Spider-man running poor on Alienware R4 3070, Intel i7-10870H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 16GB RAM, 1080p 300HZ
I've upgraded the drivers and the game drops all the way down to 19 FPS in some points while swinging. Yes I am playing while plugged in as well as have the performance in Nvidia control panel set to maximum.

I am not able to run this game at max settings.

Don't buy a Dell.

manually set your fans to max speed while gaming. Too much heat and R4's throttle like crazy, killing performance.

All fans are set to max.

Oof, well not sure then. I just know they are prone to thermal throttling. Do keep in mind, the game currently is very heavy on the CPU, doesn't affect me but it is affecting many others in the forums.

Turn down your settings. RT is very hard on the CPU at max settings and you've got a laptop. The laptop 3070 also isn't as good as the desktop 3070.

Play without RT and see how it plays.

Also, what storage does that laptop have? SSD? HDD?

I don't have issues on my desktop but when I'm on the go I would like to keep experiencing the game at max settings. 1080p this game should even struggle with a 3070m.

I have an Alienware m15 r4.. pretty much the same specs as you except my monitor is just 144Mhz. I get FPS dips swinging at night that can be as low as in the 40s.
I would try these settings:

DISPLAY
Exclusive Fullscreen
Upscaling: OFF
Dynamic Resolution Scaling: OFF
Refresh Rate: 300Hz (Mine is set to my max refresh, 144Hz. You might play around with lower rates to see if that helps. There's a bug that requires 60Hz for some people to complete a quest.)
Vsync: On (I have Gsync ON and Vsync set to default in Nvidia CP)
Anti-aliasing - TAA or DLAA (I'm using DLAA because it looks cleaner in some instances and doesn't effect performance too much)

GRAPHICS
Texture Quality: High
Texture Filtering: 4X Anisotropic
Shadow Quality: Medium
Depth of Field: : Low
Level of Detail: Medium
Traffic Density, Crowd Density, Hair Quality: Medium
Ambient Occlusion: SSAO
Screen Space Reflections: ON
Weather Particle Quality: Medium

I play with :
Field of View: 0
Motion Blur Strength: 5
Film Grain: 10

Ray tracing: OFF

I also cap my FPS to 60 in Nvidia Control Panel. This helps with stability and heat from my laptop.
Be sure game mode and hardware accelerated GPU scheduling is ON in Windows.

I noticed a big improvement disabling Hyperthreading under the BIOS but the game is still very much playable for me at these settings with Hyperthreading left on.

Hope this helps... keep in mind that the game still needs more patching. It's still not there yet but I usually keep around 50-60 fps except for certain circumstances at night. Hopefully we get more patches because we should be able to bump the detail up more given our specs.

On my legion 5 pro with a 5800u, 3070 140w, and a 1440p 165hz panel. At max settings with RT on I dip into the 40's.

My desktop I disabled HT and it ran much better, I haven't tried disabling SMT on the laptop but I'd bet it might help.

I'm on my third Alienware laptop since 2016. Aside from tweaking the CPU/GPU settings to run cooler, I've never had any issues out of my machines.

Just turn off hyperthreading on your processor. It really slows down the game. Avereage fps i could have was +-45 on every single settings. While i switched HT in ryzen master, fps got increased to 60-80 on ultra settings with DLSS quality on. I really don't know why this game doesn't support multithreading, but it works as well

Dell has destroyed the Alienware name, i wouldn't be surprised if your temps are just too hot

Ill try that. I notice there's a 40+FPS drop with Ray Tracing enabled. If I disable Ray Tracing the FPS jumps up to high 70s and low 80s. However, the game has tremendous dips. I notice the dips are 20+ FPS drop which causes massive hitches on the laptop.

I’ve a MSI gaming laptop with a 2060 RTX, settings on high, textures very high, anisotropic filtering 16x, SSAO (HBAO don’t look right), 1080p 144hrz and it runs butter smooth 90% of the time. DLSS is set to quality, and RTX is off. If I turn RTX on I get stuttering, but these are largely smoothed out by restating the game, but it’s not as smooth as when it’s off, hence why I turn it off. If you fiddle around in the graphics menu, it might be worthwhile restarting the game.

It’s worth noting that with such a high refresh rate on your monitor, and hardware not as powerful as its desktop counterpart, you gonna notice frame pacing/time/rate issues much more easily.

As an example, if I plug my laptop into the tv (1080p 60hrz) it runs perfect. Same as when I set my laptop monitor refresh rate to 60 (or cap frame rate at 72 in Nvidia control panel)

Id imagine the differences to be more pronounced on a refresh rate higher than 144

Disabling HT did increase performance and the game is smoother but with RT enable the FPS hit is insane at 1080p on a 3070m laptop. Soon as I disable RT FPS jumps from high 40s to low 80s and high 70s. However, the FPS dips are massive fluctuating from 80 all the way down to 50s.

Ps; you’d probably see more of your monitors potential on older, less demanding games. I wouldn’t use a laptop for anything above 144hrz. Better of getting a desktop if you wanna push resolution or frame rates
