Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered v1.817.1.0 Patch Notes
Hi everyone,

We are very grateful for all the positive feedback we have received since launching Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered last Friday! The teams at Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software have been closely monitoring player reports the past days and based on that we have released a first small patch with multiple fixes and improvements.

Rest assured we are not done though. We are already working on our next patch, that will be more substantial and will consist of bugfixes, improvements and additional features, based on the feedback we have received so far.

Release Notes

  • Fixed various ray-tracing related crashes.
  • Improved Windows version check, to prevent false positives.
  • Visual improvements to HBAO+.
  • Fixed the issue where ray-traced reflections in stainless steel were rendered distorted.
  • Various visual improvements to NVIDIA DLSS.
  • Fixed an issue that could freeze the game if the player would switch between graphics presets during cut-scenes.
  • Fixed an issue where the Side Mission popups would be stretched when playing in a widescreen resolution.
  • Improvements related to stability issues when using Alt-Tab.
  • Fixed various visual glitches.

Known Issues

  • Ray-tracing options may be unavailable in the menu, even with compatible hardware.

Ray-tracing is disabled when hardware or drivers are not compatible, or when the DirectX 12 Agility SDK is not functional. We have seen some reports of users that indicate this SDK is not working for them. We are investigating this issue.

  • Some players cannot progress during the Spider-Hack Mission.

This is a frame rate related bug that only occurs when well above 60 FPS. While we work on a fix, we have a workaround in place. Restart the latest checkpoint, go to the Graphics Menu, set the game to Exclusive Fullscreen and the Refresh Rate to 60Hz. You should now be able to progress. Afterwards you can switch back to your preferred settings.

  • Some players cannot take a picture of the Empire State Building.

Some players have reported being unable to take a photo of the Empire State Building, blocking progression. So far, we have only been able to reproduce this on Intel GPUs. Intel is investigating this issue.

Rollback to previous version
If you are experiencing new issues with the update, please let us know via Insomniac Support[insom.games]. If necessary, you can rollback to the previous version. Right click the game, select Properties, go to Betas and select previous_version.

Memory leak fix soon?

Seen a video where AMD GPUs were limited by Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU but not the Nvidia GPUs as much. Is this a hardware related issue beyond your control or will there be further optimizations for all-AMD configurations? Thanks for the AMAZING work! :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:

Nice, hopefully the known issues can get updated with the other commonly discussed issues, such as:

- Lower than expected Ryzen performance (as discussed by Digital Foundry)
- Distracting white artifacts from the occlusion culling
- Insanely high controller sensitivity in certain puzzles
- No sharpening slider
- Broken HBAO+ (plz Nixxes save us from ugly SSAO)

It's unclear from the patch notes and I am currently at work on my lunch break (so I cannot check until later) but I hope this fixes the annoying "memory leak" or whatever it is that causes the performance to deteriorate after an hour while web-swinging through the city.

This resulted in one crash for me after 11 hours of play and several instances where the game would freeze for 5-10 seconds while it caught up but these only start occurring after about an hours plays.

The odd thing here is that the game ran great until that point, both cutscenes and missions, and those cutscenes and missions actually continue to run fine even when the performance drops in the city! It's like there is some sort of accumulative performance bug that only occurs in the open-world sections.

Aside from that there is broken HBAO+ (not mentioned as fixed here) and some nasty shimmering in motion with DLSS enabled. Otherwise this game is great, Hopefully, we will see regular patches to address these remaining issues.

will they fix the high cpu usage issue ? for some people it make their cpu over heat example i am myself under water cool system with a rtx 3090 and a i7 8086k and i get up to 65c on the cpu when my normal is around 45-55c.

Yes, that is very noticeable and distracting actually. Kind of reminds me of the issue you get in Unreal Engine 4 games on consoles when turning the camera quickly and you can see flashes of white because the game cannot draw the assets quickly enough. This is less of an issue on PC though as you can tweak the games to compensate via the INI files plus you can use faster GPUs that make this issue unnoticeable.

Oddly, I never saw these white artefacts while playing either the PS4 version on my PS4 Pro and PS5 or the remastered version on PS5. Did those games have this issue too or is it something specific to the PC port?

I can not play with Ray Tracing enabled - I have a 3080ti, with any kind of graphic settings: from very low to max - from 1080p to 4k, as soon as I enable RT the game crashes. To restart the game I need to switch off RT before to re-start the game. I re-installed the game, and driver many times, and trying many thing, but the issue is still there. Is there any solution?
anyone also have crashes every 5-10 minutes? It's infuriating

Uhhhh, 65C is a very respectable temp for a game like this. high CPU usage is an issue but the temp in your case is what some people could only hope to get.
