- Lower than expected Ryzen performance (as discussed by Digital Foundry)
- Distracting white artifacts from the occlusion culling
- Insanely high controller sensitivity in certain puzzles
- No sharpening slider
- Broken HBAO+ (plz Nixxes save us from ugly SSAO)
This resulted in one crash for me after 11 hours of play and several instances where the game would freeze for 5-10 seconds while it caught up but these only start occurring after about an hours plays.
The odd thing here is that the game ran great until that point, both cutscenes and missions, and those cutscenes and missions actually continue to run fine even when the performance drops in the city! It's like there is some sort of accumulative performance bug that only occurs in the open-world sections.
Aside from that there is broken HBAO+ (not mentioned as fixed here) and some nasty shimmering in motion with DLSS enabled. Otherwise this game is great, Hopefully, we will see regular patches to address these remaining issues.
Yes, that is very noticeable and distracting actually. Kind of reminds me of the issue you get in Unreal Engine 4 games on consoles when turning the camera quickly and you can see flashes of white because the game cannot draw the assets quickly enough. This is less of an issue on PC though as you can tweak the games to compensate via the INI files plus you can use faster GPUs that make this issue unnoticeable.
Oddly, I never saw these white artefacts while playing either the PS4 version on my PS4 Pro and PS5 or the remastered version on PS5. Did those games have this issue too or is it something specific to the PC port?
This one drives me nuts, hope it gets fixed soon.
