Its basically Raimi 2.0 where Peter would be much better with anyone but MJ who is a whiny bitсh all the time
Depends on the comic. The original Mary Jane was a supermodel turned actress turned business tycoon who adored Peter and provided a point of stability in his otherwise chaotic life. She genuinely loved him, warts and all. Not a nagging bone in her body.
But... the original version of her was deemed "problematic" and retconned into a discount Lois Lane who spends a goodly amount of time chastising Peter for his life choices and hero antics.
Insomniac Games used the Lois Lane version, and they nailed it. It is indeed the Lois Lane version, straight from the comics to your gaming systems. It's just... also the least likable version of her and the most galling. *shrug*
Edit addition: if you can't tell, I'm not a fan of "Lois Jane" either. :-P
From what I remember in the comics she was just completely opposite of Gwen, but I guess some have a kink for readheads afterall.
if i remember correctly she is a lot more... docile. self controlled. less impulsive. this version is ready to jump into the action with little to no care for her life. like a newbie super with no self control.
i would have no problem with this, considering we deal with lois lane on the daily. But mary jane is often seen belittling peter for dumb reasons. like saving her life, at the cost of a scoop, getting jealous at black cat and him when she made it clear they weren't together anymore and snarky remarks at peters kindness which she consistently takes for granted. just to name a few.
her personality is boring, played out and annoying. this is why people dont like her.
this man actually explained it way better than me nvm.
Oh pshaw, I liked yours too dude. :-P I think you hit the nail on the head.
I've said it before, but what annoyed the most about Mary Jane's nagging was that the gameplay didn't back it up. She chides Peter repeatedly for treating her like a frail piece of China instead of an equal... but all her gameplay sequences are stealth missions with "instant fail mechanics" and, if she is spotted even once, she is immediately shot to death while whimpering like a newborn babe.
Instead of validating her argument, her missions validate Peter's concern and worry. She acts like she has a bloody death wish, is clearly super frail and defenseless if ever spotted, and yeah... it makes perfect sense that Peter is incredibly worried about her safety.
Yet, the nagging continues... incessantly, for most of the game. It's not great. It got to the point where I didn't mind that Black Cat lied to Peter in the DLCs, because at least she clearly loved him and respected him. Her only "nagging" was a lamentation that Peter is too much of a boy scout to be with her... but she also clearly loves that about him. It's part of his appeal.
This game left me on team Black Cat, which I had never been on before.
big facts man. im even a little upset at peter's portrayal too tbh. the man just takes it on the chin and treats this chick like a queen. there is barely a conversation between the 2 where im not saying "dude you really gonna let her walk over you like that?" i remember she was infiltrating magiaas place (or hammerhead's goons) escapes and then nags at peter enjoying a pizza... im like, BI*** YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE EVEN BEEN THERE. and peter just bends over backwards like "sorry" man that had me annoyed for a minute bro lol
Haha, I remember that. I think it was the first time I had seen Peter eat food since the bagel when he was sitting on top of the FEAST shelter. A pizza well earned. Her nagging pissed me off, too. :-P
Her anger felt so bizarre and misplaced, and Peter just took it like he always does. I felt bad for him. Poor dude.
Oh, and then her pretty much dumping him over the phone when she decides to skip town and go to Symkaria. That was charming, too. A great woman, that MJ.
