I have the settings on the lowest or off, everything... 1080 resolution, game works for a while, then errors. I put it up on medium to high settings, same resolution and crashes in a minute. Either way same error. Only this game. God of War doesn't do this and runs on high. Can't make it past Fisk tower due to crashing. Same error each time.

BREAKTHROUGH! Ok... 1. Made sure I had all Windows Update patches. Had 2, downloaded and installed. still had same error. 2. Checked power setting in Windows, set to high, was set to other custom plan, still had same error. 3. Went to the .exe file checked "disable fullscreen optimizations", "Run as Administrator" and went to Nvidia Control Panel and moved "Adjust Image Settings with Preview" from quality to performance. Going to remove 1 at a time of step 3 to determine which did it since I blew through Fisk tower with no compromise to the quality. Disabled Run as admin. ran with no noticeable change.
Changed Nvidia Control Panel setting from performance to quality, got glitchy on screen but held, changed to balanced from quality. Think I'm going to leave it alone. Performance and quality slider settings showed really no difference except for glitches. My game settings are on High. May put it back on performance. Currently cleared the third tower in China town. Zero issues.
any help
Same performance degradation issue here too which occurs between 1 to 2 hours of continuous play but only in the open-world city areas. Cutscenes and missions seem to work fine but as soon as I am dropped back into the city then the performance degradation continues from there. It feels like some kind of memory leak or issue with swapping data from VRAM into system RAM and back. Whatever it is, It is really odd and annoying.
I can either continue playing but have to endure 5-10 seconds freezes, where I can see textures and assets loading in, which usually leads to a crash eventually or I can exit the game and reload it which fixes the issue for an hour and a bit before it happens again. Note that the game does NOT freeze during the first 1-2 hours of play.
I first noticed this issue while doing side-quests in the open-world city and swinging from one end and back over the course of an hour after having been playing the game at that point for an hour. The framerate gradually dropped lower and lower while swinging through the city to the point where the 5-10 seconds started to happen. Most times I exit the game but the one time I didn't, the game ended up crashing to the desktop anyway!
It would be nice if the developers were actively engaged with this forum and working with people who have this issue to compile more data because I find it hard to believe that have not been able to replicate the issue given how many people on the Steam forum I have seen mention it. It seems like the next logical step is to liaise with the community so they can replicate the issue and see what is happening.
I have 16 GB of RAM, the game is installed to an external SATA3 SSD (2 TB Crucial X6) and I have the page file set to be managed by the system.
I can barely achieve 50-60FPS (50FPS being the lowest it will go when FPS drops while swinging or fighting) with RT turned off (not what GFE recommended).
I have a 5900x that sits around 18-25% usage (very low) and my 3070 TI hangs around 70-80% usage. VRAM sits around 6.7GBs used out of potential 8GBs.
I noticed the same but in French. Mostly the people on the street you can interact with, and once (so far) during JJJ Podcast (not JJJ himself but the person who calls during the broadcast).
My Steam is in french and I play ith english voices.
