I'm wondering the same thing. Personally, I have no interest in mucking with affinity settings for the game and/or disabling hyper-threading. I'd rather just wait for a patch to improve CPU utilization and THEN do my New Game Plus play-through. Game has only been out a month and a half. There's more support coming.
I feel the same way. I guess I'll just continue waiting. I really enjoy playing the game but I want to enjoy it at higher than medium settings without RT. Lesson learned.. Don't buy a game on release day ever again.
The CPU behaves a little differently if you turn of HT at BIOS. There could be something in the game code that just behaves better with no HT present vs isolating it to the physical cores.
I was also confused about this at first, i suppose it might depend on the generation and /or core count however, on my build when i disable the listed cores it appears the game is using cores 1-6 but it could also be using 3 cores and 6 threads but i will try this and see if performance further improves, this did significantly reduce stuttering for me if anything though.
they're intentionally ignoring the issue. they either can't fix it or won't. apparently it has something to do with the way the engine decompresses assets on the fly. the ps5 has a dedicated core for doing this on its cpu, which the pc version cannot emulate. The result is the engine performs worse with virtual cores enabled than it does without. Miles morales will have the same problem if this is true.
