Spiderman Remastered Low cpu usage fix
Currently the game has a bug causing it to inefficiently use HT on intel processors with over 4 cores. Luckily, there is a simple fix, go to into task manager, find the game process and click see details, then right click on the process-->Set affinity . Then disable all virtual cores (For example if you have a 6c/12t cpu, disable cores 0-5).

I think you are bit off there. on 6c/12t cores 0,2,4,6,8,10 should be the main cores, with the odd numbered 1,3,5,7,9,11 being the HT cores of the core just before it. So 0 is real, 1 is HT on core 0. Core 3 the HT of real core 2.

Is this essentially the same thing as disabling hyper-threading in the bios?

I'm wondering the same thing. Personally, I have no interest in mucking with affinity settings for the game and/or disabling hyper-threading. I'd rather just wait for a patch to improve CPU utilization and THEN do my New Game Plus play-through. Game has only been out a month and a half. There's more support coming.

I feel the same way. I guess I'll just continue waiting. I really enjoy playing the game but I want to enjoy it at higher than medium settings without RT. Lesson learned.. Don't buy a game on release day ever again.

Kind of. The CPU is still running HT, you are just isolating the game to the real cores, and avoid the HT ones.
The CPU behaves a little differently if you turn of HT at BIOS. There could be something in the game code that just behaves better with no HT present vs isolating it to the physical cores.

I was also confused about this at first, i suppose it might depend on the generation and /or core count however, on my build when i disable the listed cores it appears the game is using cores 1-6 but it could also be using 3 cores and 6 threads but i will try this and see if performance further improves, this did significantly reduce stuttering for me if anything though.

Yes, however for the game only, it makes the process of disabling and enabling ht redundant.

Still not a patch for this

this isn't the same thing has disabling hyper threading. ive tried this myself. Whilst it has the same effect as disabling hyperthreading, it also has a side effect that disabling hyperthreading doesn't have: the shader caching when it happens will stutter much worse.

they're intentionally ignoring the issue. they either can't fix it or won't. apparently it has something to do with the way the engine decompresses assets on the fly. the ps5 has a dedicated core for doing this on its cpu, which the pc version cannot emulate. The result is the engine performs worse with virtual cores enabled than it does without. Miles morales will have the same problem if this is true.
