Are the taskmaster challenges really worth it.
I've really been enjoying the game but the taskmaster challenges are kind of nuts. It feels like you barely have enough time to do them and in the end all you get is xp. I know you get challenge tokens but I'm not really using tokens on anything. Are they worth the aggravation if I don't need the tokens?

I tried one of each type and basically ignored them. I found them annoying and I hate zipping around chasing crap after doing the stupid pigeon sidequest. You won't miss out on anything. I beat the game without unlocking anything that requires challenge tokens just fine.

If you are going for all achievements where you have to unlock all suits and gadget upgrades. you are definitely going to need a lot of challenge tokens. If you dont intend on doing that, then its a different matter

You get to fight him if you've done all the challenges

If you want all the gadget unlocked you'll need half of them if not 3/4, plus some suit require them.

Before the DLCs, you had to get Ultimate Rank on at least 12 or 13 of the 16 challenges to unlock all suits and upgrade all gadgets (the challenge tokens are used with other tokens to purchase unlocks / upgrades).

The gadget upgrades are very useful and the suit unlocks include some very neat skins for Spider-Man. You can get by without both, but combat will be a little harder and you'll be missing out on some awesome appearances.

The DLCs added 4 to 5 Screwball challenges per DLC, and each one also gives challenge tokens. So it's easier to get everything upgraded / unlocked without having to reach Ultimate Rank on so many challenges. Bigger margin for error, I guess.

So yeah, it's up to you really. Personal thing. If you find getting all the upgrades / suits to be worth it, I might recommend watching some YouTube guides. The stealth, bomb, and drone missions have critical paths that, once you know them, make them really easy to pull off. There are YouTube guides for all of them. As for the combat missions, don't get hit and build up a high combo rating. That's the trick, there.

I mean I loved it. Plus beating taskmaster down was fun.

Even if you don't care about the achievements, Taskmaster is one of the most enjoyable (if easy) bosses in the game in my opinion. The challenges are easier if you start spending tokens on new abilites and upgrades.

So I had finished the drone and bomb challenges before I made the post. Both were kind of easy but doable. Did the combat challenges tonight and aced 2 of them. But the stealth challenges, oh God the stealth challenges. Timed with an instafail. That might take a bit of patience.

So you are saying you used cheats to unlock everything?

Enemy vision is pretty bad in this game. Make generous use of trip mines and large web launchers (can't recall the name), and just zip around with web takedowns when you know that other enemies won't see it. You can start with some perch takedowns.

The trick with the stealth challenges is that they aren't Batman: Arkham Asylum challenges. You don't have to get showy, do different takedowns, or the like. You just gotta be fast and get stealth combos.

Which... kind of sucks, truth be told. They're not very fun. But, it makes using YouTube guides to cheese them VERY easy. Other people have already figured out the sole critical path for each one to get Ultimate Rank. As long as you can replicate their actions, you're fine.

The only one that give me trouble was the one with two armed guys on a scaffold together. Took me a try or two to impact web them both before getting detected. The video made it look easier than it was. I suspect that he tried a few times, too. :-P

As for Screwball challenges... oi vey, cross that bridge when you come to it. Haha. Luckily, you only need Spectaculars on those to get the trophies.

I personally managed Ultimate on everything but am disappointed that the DLC didnt add any unlockables that use challenge tokens. Ended up with over 100 at the end of the last DLC...

Since I preordered the game, I saved some tokens cos of the free suits and drone gadget. Else I would be spending 4 Backpack, 7 Crime, 7 Challenge, 4 Landmark, 4 Base and 3 Research tokens extra
