Act 3 difficulty spike
Anyone else notice the HUGE spike in difficulty once you get to act 3?

like it went from not even getting touched in act 2 taken out trash mobs, to every battle your dodging trying to just stay alive more than put out damage. Every battle now has 2-3 snipers and other challenges that make it so you can't even do a perfect dodge take down with out getting hit by everyone. And good luck using utilities, half my deaths are in the 1 second i was trying to switch to a new item

that and stealth seems to no longer be an option for some reason? i see red dots on the map, get close and perch on a roof above them, and get instantly targeted by 3 snipers, no spotted icons just instantly targeted

I mean i kinda get it story wise, being on your back foot and all, but this is just ridiculous, the same trash mods that I didn't even have to think to take down, has turned into something where i have to sweat every battle... even the small ones since over half of every group now has rockets, snipers, or other challenges

Is act 3 when the escape happens and the whole town turns into Arkham City?

Yeah. That's when the game's tutorial pretty much ends and they just toss you right in the deep end. They throw like 4 new enemy types at you at the same time (double energy whip users, Sable tower snipers, Sable car mounted turrets, and flying Sable soldiers) and start including all enemy types in basically every encounter. Oh, and the whole city basically becomes hostile to you.

Flawless fights can turn into near instant deaths as 3 different guys shoot you at the same exact time. It's still perfectly doable, there's just very little safety margin compared to what came before.

Yeah and I didn't like it. All of sudden is all city hostile, so even traversing across the city is very dangerous and not fun (even more, if you are doing some side content and/or are playing on harder difficulty). Crimes were not too much fun, because these soldiers were very strong, had laser weapons, jetpacks, shields, snipers, rocket launchers and were in greater numbers. In the end I was so much tired, I even felt relief when it was over. Also their bases were not fun.

This is where doing the Screwball gadget challenges paid off for me. Really helped knowing which ones paired well with each other, and made it easier to clear mobs quickly.

Also... upgrading your webbing to longer range will really help if you haven't done so already, as does the electric punch suit mod. It makes dealing with mobs and special enemy types MUCH easier. For me, it's the most useful suit mod in the game and recharges fairly quick.

Spider Drones, Web bomb/blossom and concussion blast will become your best friends. One of my favorite combos is webbing enemies up then hitting them with the concussion blast to web them to nearby walls giving you almost instantly a 20+ combo, or using the drones and the drone suit power to have 3 little drones flying around electrocuting any and every enemy in your way allowing you to just pummel them all.

Well, have fun then with the second and third DLC. I registered a huge spike there, not at Act 3.

I mean… I’m not surprised a game’s campaign gets more difficult towards the end.

Not only does the difficulty ramp up a lot, but the # of bugs ramps up in scale. I'm keep falling through roads now when swinging down to engage in events and that never happened one time in act 1 or act2.

But for difficulty ya you need to lean on your gadgets and upgraded combat skills for sure. Fighting casually/sloppily in act1 and 2 won't serve you very well in act3 at all.

Use your gadgets until you run out and use the upgrade that protects you against blasts and the one increases DMG with HP higher than 100 and the one to charge Focus faster. This will make fights run faster, and use finishers. Another thing that makes thing easier, Spider-man is excellent in air fighting, keep your enemies in the air and swing kick them to maintain distance, also it charges your focus faster and normal enemies cant hit you.

Not even once in over 40h did I experience this. I had two enemies at two occasions stuck in a wall and I had to repeat the mission. My only bugs.
