Mary Jane's first mission

I'm having a bit of a problem with M.J.'s first mission, When I try to select the weapon for the Oni statue, nothing happens. I've interacted with all items in the room along with interacting with the statue itself, but nothing seems to let me select the weapon the Oni is supposed to hold to progress. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix for it?

you need to move the statue in the correct position (arms, head, mouth) and then put the correct item in it's hand. you are just missing something simple.

1. interact with the left book on table and turn it around. 2. move the arms, head and mouth as said. 3. go to the weapons table and hold space bar so you select the one all the way to the right.

I think you need to pick up a wrong one before you can pick up the correct one

nope just the one on the far right which you can get when holding space bar and moving your mouse
