To all who play test, is Zaku II a good unit?
Its my favourite mobile suit ever, so is it good?

Short answer: Yes. He requires good aim and playstyle tactics but if you can nail that, you're going to be a menace.

zaku ranged was incredibly good in the test, dudes who were saying he was "low tier" or whatever were just straight up bad

My Beam Spray Gun and shield say hi

Zaku II is a good counter unit to Barbatos and does pretty good hit and run tactics.
The most mobile unit in the game
Other than that... a lot of suits can make a bigger impact.

It is very frail at 800 HP (the lowest) and no shield. You live and die from dashes and smoke juice.
The gun ammo and spread is lacking to the point it is hard to kill anyone at full HP in one clip unless you are pretty close.
Grenade kinda sucks

Pale Rider basically outclasses it at the moment IMO
During playtest I was probably around top 10% in ranking and I think it was on the weaker side, but still better than guntank

Zaku is your flank / anti-flank suit for sure. From what I've gathered, he's really good at preventing hard flanking units from doing their thing, but you have to anticipate and learn the maps. Positioning and game sense are all relevant. Plus Zaku is a mobile boi. You'll enjoy em for sure.

Zaku was a glass cannon. while it can ninja around the battle field, it cant survive long in a fistacuffs brawl. its low on abilities with 2, while most others have 3, and a 20 round clip thats... meh. unless you get headshots alot its not gonna do alot in one clip. you cant reload while using your smoke either. You are faster than most, and with the 'flank' role 3 dashes can get around pretty well. ppl say its a counter to Barby but only if you can keep away from it, Barby can 1shot ANYTHING not named Sazabi, atleast in the BETA. Zaku is a high skill suit if you want to do well. easiest way to live long would be go in, unload, retreat to a Haro if AT ALL injured, then bounce back in. Id say Zaku would be used to pick off weak'nd opponents

The Zaku 2 ranged was great and played well. The melee version will be new at launch so it's hard to say but looks decent.

I wonder if they coulda gone with a Slash ZAKU Warrior to act as a melee Zaku instead of the MS-06 Zaku II

so.... they basically Tracer? annoying fast unit that can kill fast and go out fast?

Zaku Ranged is a more viable Barbatos. It has the tools to get in and stay in where Barbatos would either have to score a kill and bail or just sit down and die, it forces the enemy team to constantly worry about him magdumping their health away in the middle of a fight, it's fast enough to sneak out of a fight and steal a health kit, and committing to taking him down takes up more resources than he's using. In exchange, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worthless as a frontline unit, between the MG having no accuracy and the grenade being easy to escape from if you're paying any attention to it.
Marasai was the only unit I would say is outright "bad". Zaku II definitely had a higher skill floor than most of the others, but if you could play it right it was pretty effective.

Marasai was a good alternative to Gundam if you weren't up against Sazabi. The problem is that Sazabi was on every team, so you would rather run Gundam to kick him out of his shield.

He is actually a low tier when people (the enemy) know what they're doing, don't judge the suits to quickly the game is not out yet so the skill floor is pretty low at the moment, but based on my experience with the Zaku (I aced Zaku, Sazabi, and Dom) at the play test it's feels like god against people who doesn't pay attention to or underestimate it, but I believe the higher the skill ceiling is, Zaku getting more and more difficult to compete except playing conservatively hit&run. He needs buff.

Wow I can't believe the Char suit has to play like Char in his only competent fight, it's almost like it's a Char suit from when he was a threat and not a jobber who existed to eat hits from Amuro or something.
Zaku Ranged needs to be played as a constant threat that the enemy team can't afford to ignore and can't spend the time to deal with. He's sharing that niche with Barbatos and Sniper II, but unlike Barbie he actually has the tools to escape a bad matchup and come back for another go, and unlike Sniper II you can't just outposition him.

U Wot? You taken canon into the game, it's a bit too much. Okay I'll play along, but the Char one is tweaked no? More mobility and agile, if char given the basic grunt version of Zaku, Amuro won't get any scratch and prolly put Char into early retirement. Well, Amuro and char basically plot armours so....

That's what I said you play Zaku with hit&run tactic stay behind your tank and finish the job, but you know, as the season pass launch already it will buried by Unicorn.... a better Zaku but hey at least Zaku is free. If Zaku doesn't get buff, it will lose its potential earlier than I thought.
