Why Gundam Evo is shutting down
1) IP Region locks at launch, killing initial hype.
2) Disconnection from matches.
3) Gacha and p2w unlocks.
4) The game was nothing but an Overwatch with Gundam series models. Nothing of the gameplay felt mech-like.

GBOP2 is following this fate as well since most of the matches end up in matchmake fail or disconnections.

I miss MSGO.
Saw Maruyama mentioning they wanted to provide a Gundam experience, this wasn't a Gundam experience at all. It was just a modded OW.

Bring back Mobile Suit Gundam Online.

Simpler answer: Devs being retarded

If they fixed all the above, you seriously think the game will be popular?

I doubted it, it is more with the poor balancing and match making.

Game never unlocked for my region, had to trick my way into it. And even so, the matches always had disconnections or the game crashed somehow.
Also, heavy pay to unlock timegates was a death sentence.

What exactly about this was gacha? Units weren't locked behind random pulls. As for p2w? That's also shaky ground. Some units were definitely better but they didn't make a poor player instantly good. GEVO has a ton of issues but I don't think number 3 is one of them.

This game caters too much to the e-sport meta, although most people who played this game just want a good gundam shooter instead of the next Overwatch or Apex. There's no casual game mode (no basic deathmatch mode, and most "pro" players are forced to play casual due to low player count in ranked), there are no easy counters for noob killers like Barb. There are no bot matches for new players to get through the learning curves. And guess what, people left.

I think you didn't understand. Even it is in your region, you don't get to see disconnect, and you got all unlocked units, the game is bad. Understand now?

The game is bad regardless of your previous points. Even they fixed all of them (as I don't have all your problems), I still think the game is bad.

MSGO wasn't that either. You had Zakus skating in the sky at high speed blasting machineguns at ♥♥♥♥ with zero inertia and that's definitely "unusual" for the OYW. MSGO was janky high speed Battlefield.

3) Gacha and p2w unlocks.
...?? What?

The network issues were a major part of the player bleed, so the answer is "Prolly, lol?"
