one of the most famous was Gundam Marine, which was an Improved GM Marine that had a Gundam head on it, but it wasn't a gundam.
So I guess that's basically a prototype Rider Gundam. (plus another user mentioning the RX- prefix)
RX is strickly their Experimental Designation. Like how the M16 was called the XM5. If Otherwise, then Guntank and Guncannon are Gundams, And they're not.
so then im right for originally assuming it meant prototype i guess. Never been a fan of the Pale rider, but I kinda like it in this game.
Also, do some of these MS designs look like the Ver. Ka variants to you? The Grandaddy seems a bit like the MG Ver. Ka kit, minus a couple details
The Pale Rider and its brothers use the latest technology the Federation developed during the One Year War. All being armoured with Gundarium and its catalog specs outclass the RX-78-2, along with the RGM-79SP GM Sniper ii it was based on being equal to the Gundam.
