So this is just Overwatch with a Gundam skin?
I know imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen, but I'm not a lawyer so what do I know.

I don't know anything about Gundam except that it involves politics and giant robots. I'll still give it a shot cause it's free and need something to play for a month.

Much better than OW.
Also, just to educate on how law works: you cannot copyright/trademark gameplay mechanics.
Bandai Namco (well Namco back in the day) held the patent for “auxillary mini-games” which meant no one else could put mini-games in their loading screens until the patent expired in 2015.

Warner Brothers holds the patents for the Nemesis system from Shadow of War so no one else can use that type of system in their game.

I think you need to educate yourself on how things work.

Educating you, again, on how things work.
Patents rely on extremely customized and unique technologies to exist. The systems you mentioned are unique creations of those developers, such as the Nemesis system.
Overwatch has an ultimate button and so does Gundam. Overwatch has archetypes for their characters, and so does Gundam.
You can't patent "an ultimate button", unless that ultimate button is relying on extremely unique code and performs an extremely unique function. You can't patent "UI", and you surely cannot patent "abilities".
If you could easily patent everything you wanted in a videogame, most videogames would be in trouble, since most gameplay mechanics are present in games of the same genre.
Basically, you are wrong.

ult buttons existed in lol and dota dota2, games well over 10 years old, and over watch holds no patents so it doesnt matter any ways

If by "Overwatch with Gundam skins" you mean "It falls within the Hero Shooter genre, which was not invented by Overwatch and existed before Overwatch", then yes.

Saying this is "Overwatch with Gundam skins" is like saying that "Halo is Call of Duty with sci-fi skins"

Same genre, different games.

Remember the 90s? Remember when Crapcom tried to sue some other company for making a fighting game? Imagine how much video games would suck if they won and set a precedence for owning a video game genre. There wouldn't be an Overwatch. There wouldn't even be a TF2.

And on the subject of ults, Splatoon had ults and released the year before Overwatch.
And then of course there's the killstreaks from CoD that everything tried to copy for a while.

Honest question: have you actually played the game?

Because before I played the game during the beta playtest, I thought it was just going to be a reskinned Overwatch. Turns out, it plays extremely different due to a number of small, but impactful changes.

1) Healing isn't as important because everyone regenerates health slowly if they haven't taken damage in a bit. It's not Call of Duty levels where you duck behind a box for three seconds and you're back to full, but between fights you can usually get back a decent chunk of health.

2) Everyone has more defensive options thanks to the boost function. Because even the slow suits get a quick dash step or can boost to move around faster, you're less reliant on having a single tanky player drawing fire. You can actually keep yourself alive fairly well if you evade the right attacks.

3) Ultimates aren't nearly as powerful and often have easy counters. For instance, the Gundam's ultimate initially looks a lot like D.Va's in that you launch a nuke into a location and it explodes shortly after. However, the Gundam's nuke can be destroyed. An aware team can get rid of it before it causes any damage - though it still functions as a distraction for the Gundam player and their team to take advantage of.

All in all, it makes the game feel much more freeform. You aren't hard locked into Overwatch's Tank-Healer-DPS composition and, at least in the beta, never felt too disadvantaged by team picks as long as everyone was playing their best. It feels more like if Halo had character classes or something instead of a direct Overwatch clone.
I have not. I'm waiting for it to go live since it looks like a fun game. The comparisons I made were purely visual and it's not hard to see why I would point that out. The first guy to post did point out some of the things you mentioned and I'm all for it. I only played OW for like the first 2 or so months it was out and back than you weren't locked into roles like they are now. Doing 6 Winston runs back in the day was so fun to just mess around with.

I definitely wasn't trying to be snide. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when it goes live (assuming the servers don't bomb). Gundam Evolution is actually a, well, evolution above the Overwatch formula in my opinion. They obviously used OW as a base, but their design improves upon it, takes it away from the role-locked snooze that OW has become, and becomes its own thing in the end.

Of course, you might hate it, but at least it's free?

And the overwatch fanbois start rolling in to act like overwatch was the first fps team based pvp game ....
Have you seen the UI of the game or looked at the classes and their abilities? That's why I made the comparison. The classes are not direct copies like the UI, but even their newest Gundam (Robot? Not sure on terminology on this property) has a Lucio style always on healing aoe around them.
And as said before, also what should be common knowledge at this point, Overwatch is not the first ever fps team based pvp game... Fanbois... Lord almighty...

Oh wow Lucio is the first ever character to have aoe heals always at all times! NOT even close too the first!!!!!!!
