I don't know anything about Gundam except that it involves politics and giant robots. I'll still give it a shot cause it's free and need something to play for a month.

I cant believe over watch stole ashes ult from lol with that dragon ninja, doesnt over watch know you cant shoot a high damaging projectile as a ult, thats just like stealing man

also over watch straight up stole engineer from tf2 he has like the same load out and cosmetically has very similar clothes, they even have a costume you can use in game that was a nod to how the character was inspired by tf2 engineer and like awfully looks like the default tf2 engineer outfit, ironic

One of the most misunderstood about copyright infringement, especially in creative works is that the copy must be have striking/substantial similarity.

You need to copy the exact mechanics, character, and modes from Overwatch to actually be sued by Acti-Bliz. If it's different? If you can tell something's different than it's not infringing. Simple as.

the only way overwatch would go againt and win a case like this if it was against a indie dev and they pulled bs like making them go to court over and over untill the indie dev was too broke to go to court, or for them to hire a scummy lawyer, since its an actual company they wont sue them like they wont sue ubi soft or the valorent people

I would argue that Unicorn is pretty different from Lucio, passive healing was done in other games, the way it kit meshes together reminds me of like a mix of heavy and characters that can aoe buff in other games.

I also don’t think blizzard can beat bandai namco anyways

Honest question: have you actually played the game?

Because before I played the game during the beta playtest, I thought it was just going to be a reskinned Overwatch. Turns out, it plays extremely different due to a number of small, but impactful changes.

1) Healing isn't as important because everyone regenerates health slowly if they haven't taken damage in a bit. It's not Call of Duty levels where you duck behind a box for three seconds and you're back to full, but between fights you can usually get back a decent chunk of health.

2) Everyone has more defensive options thanks to the boost function. Because even the slow suits get a quick dash step or can boost to move around faster, you're less reliant on having a single tanky player drawing fire. You can actually keep yourself alive fairly well if you evade the right attacks.

3) Ultimates aren't nearly as powerful and often have easy counters. For instance, the Gundam's ultimate initially looks a lot like D.Va's in that you launch a nuke into a location and it explodes shortly after. However, the Gundam's nuke can be destroyed. An aware team can get rid of it before it causes any damage - though it still functions as a distraction for the Gundam player and their team to take advantage of.

All in all, it makes the game feel much more freeform. You aren't hard locked into Overwatch's Tank-Healer-DPS composition and, at least in the beta, never felt too disadvantaged by team picks as long as everyone was playing their best. It feels more like if Halo had character classes or something instead of a direct Overwatch clone.

over watch should be sued if anything, but over watch is comprised of mechanics that are old as dirt, its just a moba with moba characters in game modes that have existed since tf2 and quake 2, with menu and ui styles that are so basic they are generic

yeah dude this is just the court case that happens over the riff from stairway to heaven like every five years. somehow dumb mfers keep getting mad about "stealing" any time someone is like playing G D E and F.
same thing is happening with games. i wouldn't be surprised if this dude thought fortnite ripped off pubg even though pubg was just a big budget continuation of a DAYZ mod which in turn is just an ARMA mod which in turn is just a mod of operation flashpoint.

every single game we play right now is basically a ripoff of quake because practically every engine we now use is a heavily modified updated quake engine ID1>ID2>Source-gold>Unreal>Source>Source2> you get the point.

I have not. I'm waiting for it to go live since it looks like a fun game. The comparisons I made were purely visual and it's not hard to see why I would point that out. The first guy to post did point out some of the things you mentioned and I'm all for it. I only played OW for like the first 2 or so months it was out and back than you weren't locked into roles like they are now. Doing 6 Winston runs back in the day was so fun to just mess around with.

"Overwatch with Gundam skin" can't be sued for copyright because the "Gundam skin" makes it ineligible to be sued as "Overwatch copy"
