Download Daggerfall Unity, TGM works in it.

I've done both clearing out the dungeon and just running past everyone and doing the dungeon isn't really that worthwhile imo.
The mods make it a lot better but they take some tinkering around in files, and reinstall can be problematic. I'm doing 1st dungeon now from the start with better graphics and I started with a heal spell and good mana regen.
But lets do this without mods or console commands:
When you are going through the first dungeon from the start the corridor eventually comes to a room with a human and some tables (its a square U shape of tables), there is a door behind him/her and one closer to you off to the left.
Take the door to the left it is the platform room with the skeleton and a bat. There are wide stairs you want to take and a throne on a small platform at the top of the stairs, elevator lever on left side. Once you ride the platform up go right and through a corridor passed a door (it's on the left) and up the passage through turns to the first door on the right. It has an imp, bat, and a rat in it and the exit looks different from other doors.
The custom class and character creation can be real important. And when you fight don't stand your ground and get hit. Dodge in-n-out or side to side, or just run backwards and hit them as they come. Rest to get health back between fights. Clear stuff out near the beginning so you have a place to run back to for resting, it won't rest if enemies are too close. There is an imp early on that can't be taken out without a higher level material wep such as the ebony dagger, bare hands/feet, or by spell. Until you get fighting down it may be better to run. Save often, quicksave in combat if doing well.
