Playing in co-op

How can i play this with my SO?
Do we both need to have a copy, or doest it also work on the streaming thingy from steam itself?

If you are in the same house, just hook it up to a TV and use 2 controllers with split screen. That works very fine. I played this game with my girlfriend on the couch with contollers via Apple TV and Steam Link.
