You can chose to ignore the timer and complete any room in however long it takes you by pressing "continue" on the defeat screen when the timer runs out.
The room grade is the only thing affected by this.
Well thats something I guess. Sorry its just me I suppose. I dont really associate "puzzle time" with "stressy limited time"
thats good to know, was thinking of buying it for my parents but they need kinda long for stuff like this and it wouldnt be fun if they couldnt complete it if the timer were to run out.
So thanks for mentioning ^^
It's not just you, it's a somewhat common ask that we have tracked, but also not common enough for us to change our stance on.
It is an intentional design choice on our part to elicit the time pressure feeling as that's part of escape rooms (among other reasons).
And there's already a "partial" compromise that you can extend the timer as much as you need.
It's one of the bigger remaining asks, along with changeable key binds.
Honestly that might be a hint right there. I dont know about others but I would really love this game without timers, I suspect it could lead to more sales, or at the very least more positive reviews.
It's one thing to count your time upwards and another to count it down. One makes you want to be as fast as possible, the other only introduces unnecessary stress.
Then theres no reason to have a timer.
It's an "escape room" game in an environment that's suppose to simulate a fantastical escape room experience. Escape rooms have timers and even leaderboards IRL. I think you already have your compromise, you can take as long as you need.
- The timer doesn't affect anything.
- But is an integral part of the game.
- But it is absolutely irrelevant and should not worry anyone.
- And that is why we will not remove it.
- Even if it is one of the most requested features.
- And does nothing but keep track for achievements.
This always gives a feeling where the CEO has made a stupid decision and the client support needs to struggle to protect the idea, even if all they can say is "Yeah, it is pointless and has no affect, but integral even if people do not like it." If that is not the case, I dunno, maybe something worse is happening.
Agree. I really don't care about time records or achievements.
Forced timer with the "defeat" screen is an intrusive annoyance that breaks immersion.
