For exp or money rich floor, you might find death appear fast. Grind few and just go.
In P3, If you know the Reaper is on the floor, split up and with some luck one of your party members can find the stairs before the Reaper find you. For the unlucky days when it corners you, just use the Traestro Gem that Mitsuru gave you (you can buy more when the Antiques Shop opens).
I never tryed the Trafuri (gem or skill), so I don't know if we can run of the battle.
In P5 you can just use the fast travel for the previous floor so you can avoid to be cornered.
All of that , of course, is for the begining/mid game. There will be a point when you will be able to choose to hunt it for the drops and/or revenge.
theyre only somewhat difficult on hard mode
also you hear chains before the reaper appears so just go up one floor and it resets
I understand, at least in the begining I had to catch dozens of Pixies, Angels and Apsaras to fuse the other arcanas needed. And yes, the Reaper came because I was too much time at the same block. It gets better when you unlock new blocks on Tartarus.
Make it to December, take the bad ending, start new game plus which gives you access to Monad, and grind there. All enemies in Monad are like level 90 and you can basically get your character and party to level 70-80 fairly quick there. You can enter it in NG+ by the door in the entrance to Tartarus.
As for the Reaper, just don't linger in either P3 or P5. Some floors spawn him faster though, namely ones with higher level enemies (indicated by Fuuka telling you), Golden Hand Floors, or Treasure Floors (The Reaper will spawn in around 20-30 seconds from the start of treasure floors (Fuuka will say she has a bad feeling on the floor).
In Persona 5, Morgana will give you a heads up if the Reaper spawns, and it's rare but some Mementos Alterations can have him spawn immediately too.
In Persona 4 you likely won't ever see the Reaper unless you try to get him. You have to unlock 21 chests in a row to spawn him, and that chain gets broken if you get to that number, hear the chains, and get into a battle.
Do it fast enough and your party member will survive as well, just be teleported back to the entrance without a death to make them tired. You do want to find a way back to the entrance shortly after doing this to fill out your party again, but I found when just grinding in already completed floors it isn't much of a burden to take the next teleporter out.
Persona 5, that isn't even necessary, you can just move either up or down in the menu, so when the Reaper shows up you can just teleport to safety for free. When I was strong enough to fight it I also tested how hard it was to avoid and found you can literally run in a circle around it a few dozen times and be perfectly fine. It can only start a fight by hitting you with its blade, and the animation is slow enough to be easily dodged as long as you aren't stationary or walking into it.
really? I felt like p4 was better in every way except maybe combat/UI. Even though p4 is probably most broken when it comes to making invincible MC
