About Junpei

I've seen alot of mention how is he basically best persona character all time or something like that. Is it trolling? I mean hes obv same archtype as Kenji or Ryuji, but honestly hes kinda annoying jealous little ♥♥♥♥♥. Seems way weaker and less fun than those two. Hes kinda stupid but not in a fun way like Ryuji.

I like social link characters in this game ALOT, but main cast IMO the weakest from 3/4/5

Can't say I've seen anybody talking about him as the best, actually I've seen more of the opposite with people calling him useless. He is pretty poor in battle too, so that makes sense.

He does have a good story arc though, so maybe that's what people are praising?

Hm maybe, but its female MC only, from male perspective he sucks. I wouldnt say hes bad in battle honestly. For some reason single hit physical abilities do less damage than auto-attack, which is strange, maybe thats why?

I've not played that much but I do find them quite good. Not as good as P4G but definitely superior than P5, which I think without Joker they would not be friends.

Junpei is quite a good character, I like characters that have pros and cons. Ryuji is really boring, it's just "impulsive" that's all. Junpei is definitely jealous who just want to prove everything he does is to flatter but in reality he is insecure.
I can't say that he is the best character. Give me 70 more hours.

I thought the same thing, quite strange. I imagine is not very well balanced.

He goes through character arc in the main story, even multiple ones unlike his p4 and p5 counterparts who just stick around as your dumb sidekick
To me his jealousy phase and him getting over it makes it feel more like you actually befriend him over time instead of "whoa, new guy, you've got some crazy super power! oh, and I've got it too know! let's stick together whether you like it or no!"

I initially could not stand Junpei the first time I played the game, but he eventually grew on me once I grew to understand him more as a characters. His social link in the FeMC route especially made me like him a lot more.

"best persona character all time" is a massive stretch tho

Him being jealous at first is a good thing. It means he has more emotions than instant adoration for the MC like the companions in 4/5.

Regular attacks are based on weapon strength, while physical abilities have a fixed power level. So it's quite easy to outdo the early ones once you have decent weapons. Physical abilities are probably more useful for changing your attack type, or hitting multiple enemies, than dealing extra damage.

Junpei is fine early game (although his reduced accuracy basically cancels out his increased damage even then), but him getting more powerful fire magic late, and not getting the ma- versions at all, definitely reduces his effectiveness mid-late game.

Idk how in p3. but in p4 you pretty much cleared everything with hama/mudo skills, especially if you had daisoujou/alice. P5 was better in that regard and SMT is best when it comes to combat IMO.

P4 was way too busted at some point, you could have pretty much invincible persona and yoshitsune was dumb af.

I've played FES and I actually liked him. His story is great from being jerk to become a good person. Also his behavior in Answer was very good.

Junpei's a pretty okay guy when he gets over his inferiority complex, and (though it pains me to say it) he's probably got the best voicework in the game.
He's definitely not among my favourites, and the fact that his jealousy takes on a fairly sexist tint in femc's route doesn't help matters. On the other hand, his social link is pretty good so it's a wash.
5/10 guy, I'd date him over Morgana, Teddie, and Yusuke and nobody else.

In the narrative... Well, of the "bro" archetypes (Junpei, Yosuke, Ryuji) I think he's potentially the poorest. Like... Yosuke's a bit of a creep and Ryuji can't keep his mouth shut, but neither of them storm off and wind up causing more grief as much as Junpei does.

He does have decent offensive battle skills, but you've got to live with having Junpei on the team. :P So just kick him out as soon as a more useful ally is recruited.

Junpei is honestly one of the weaker party members, he unfortunately gets outshined by Akihiko in many aspects
He has very good strength and decent endurance but pretty meh agility and luck. His magic stat is also horrible, meaning that his fire attacks are only good for knocking out enemies

His only saving grace are his amazing skills. His self healing move is very useful since he will be wasting a lot of HP and Vorpal Blade is probably one of the best physical attacks in the game. However he only gets these two moves very late in the game which is also a huge downside

He has a lot of character development, at least in Kotone's route. Not sure about MaleMC's route.
