Jades are just modifying your style not making you op strong
2-cost jades are helpful modifiers that usually don't radically change your playstyle but still can affect it
3-cost jades can actually be a moderate change
so yeah jades system has its importance.
As for computing power, you should have like 7 by the time you fight Lady E if you explore properly, fight those minibosses and also buy 3 that living weapon sells - they aren't that cheap, but by not losing too much corpse money and having farm loadout when not engaging bosses you'll have sufficient money.
Hollow Knight charms and Prince of Persia talismans are both superior systems with a lot more experimentation and expression.
