Another PVP extraction shooter game that dies early. There are already many games of this type on the market. You decided to make it free and now you want to charge for it. Good luck with your foretold death.

but not out. People who say there's already lots of competition or oversaturation are full of it. There's Tarkov and Hunt and that's it, and both of those games are pretty niche and uninviting. ARC (or if marathon comes first), will be the first AAA extraction game and will be inviting and accessible. The game mode is hardly explored, and the tense moments that come from it will make it inherently a popular concept. It just hasn't been popular so far because the only people to try it have made their games very niche with other mechanics that bog them down

let me list up a small selection for you, lots of them pretty much failed.
some of them pure co op - most of them pvp.

Tarkov
Hunt
Grayzone Warfare
Marauders
Dark & Darker
Delta Force
Arena Breakout
Level Zero: Extraction
Lost Light
The Forever Winter
Incursion Red River
Vigor
The Cycle (Frontier)
...

oh yeah and Exoborne + Marathon coming up (which looks mediocre at best tbh)

I'm just tired of this (pvp) extraction nonsense.
the shift in development in ARC Raiders to PvP only was actually the worst they could have done.

add to that the 3rd person cam only in a freaking PvP game...yeah alright...good night ARC Raiders.

the atmosphere, visuals & sound design are absolutely top tier in this game...the rest unfortunately not.

What to make another PVE game to die just as quick if not faster. I dont get why people say it all the time PVE only lets a game live for so long, PVPVE was the best decision they could have ever made for the longevity of the game and player engagement. You underestimate the want for PVPVE, and that format like Gray Zone, D&D, Delta Force, Marauders, and Level Zero was done poorly but still grabbed the attention of people who want some of both worlds but done properly. I think Arc Raiders will meet expectations and probably exceed them as the world and immersion is very good. When I was playing the playtest without fail the pvp spots were always hot even the pvp spot on the border of the map still brought in tens of people each round. I ran into 2 or 3 different squads in that remote location of the map, people want pvp and will go lengths to get that action and adrenaline, so no PVP was definitely the right move and always will be in the extraction/shooter genre, its stupid not to include it.

It's not a shift to PVP. They shifted to PVPVE and I, for one, enjoyed interacting with the world and the ARC robots in the map, I thought the PVE was pretty nice and has the potential to get very interesting on the full release. Most of the games mentioned above are not available on consoles, or are indies, so that list doesn't mean there's no room for Arc Raiders. Embark have earned a lot of goodwill from the success of THE FINALS, they are creating good looking games that play well. I was impressed with the state of the game in the Alpha and the Tech Test 1, and I'm looking forward to tech test 2. There's always a bunch of cynical gamers coming on the discussion boards to ♥♥♥♥ on games they're not even interested in and calling them dead before they're even out. If you don't like extraction, or 3rd person pov, or whatever this game is offering, move along instead of coming here to posture as an arbiter of success and taste for games that have yet to be released.
