Cheats
After having questionable interactions with randoms in the game, I decided to pretend that I need cheats and have begun asking around and doing searches.

I've come across countless forums, which revolve around cheating and Arc Radiers is one of their "hottest" topics.

In these threads I've seen a variety of cheats being shared, along with instructions of how to avoid getting banned, such as using Steam's family sharing.

I would suggest developers to do some research, to get an idea of the tools and methods cheaters are using to cheat in their game, or to start off by preventing players with family share settings to even access this game.

For those of you who don't cheat, but are curious what sort of option you have, I will list a few that I have found so when you encounter it, you won't be second guessing whether or not that was a cheater and immeditely report them. I think part of the problem is that people don't know what cheaters are like and they will report players who are genuinely just better than them, and let actual cheaters go unreported.

If the community can improve the precision of their reports, by actually being able to identify real cheaters as opposed to randoms who just play better, this would improve the game in the long run as well. I am convinced most reports claiming to be reporting a cheater is a false positive, driven by emotions, because the player lost a duel. These reports are then piling up diluting the pool with false positives.

Here are some nasty cheats I've found, to enlighten the community when they can be suspicious of someone:

The Radar

Apparently, it is possible to cheat a radar as an overlay which tells you everything around you, from, ARCs, loot, players, even paints a picture of the terrain, locked/opened doors. This gives cheaters the advantage of knowing if you are in their vicinity, a floor above/below or around the corner. They can already decide how to deal with the encounter, jump you, avoid you, lure you, etc..

Respawning

Another cheat utilizes a command window, which you can also get by cheating and what this does is it allows cheaters to respawn with a free kit, once they're killed. So if you happen to get killed by someone you killed earlier, there is a very high chance they are cheating, because I don't think it is possible to return to a game you once died in.

Visibility

Although Embark has tried to improve upon fairplay and mainintaing the integrity of the game, cheaters have also found a way to patch the fix Embark has released, which prevented players from using Nvidia Filters. This bypasses wahtever Embark/Nvidia has done, allowing users to continue cheating, improving their visibility in darker areas.

Aimbotting

This one comes as no surprise, however this cheat doens't only allow players to pick which body part to shoot at, but it also lets players see where loot is. They can pretty much see "mapped containers" (I assume these are containers already opened by anyone??) and they will see what loot is in them without even having to open it themselves.

---This particular cheat is said to be outdated, but just keep in mind that if you open a container and find something valuable, you might end up on a hunt list.

How some of these cheats work and why they're hard to combat:

Dumping

Cheaters are able to scouer the code from dumped logs and have revealed the multiple layer anti-cheat system. By doing so, they are finding ways to circumvent detection and avoid triggering the anti-tampering. This is one of the main reasons why unfortuantely we will always have cheaters in our games. Games are developed to be entertaining and serve that purpose, they're not made to combat cheaters. Therefore, the code is written in a way that becomes easily accessible for those who want to modify it and change things around. In this case, how anti-cheat works has already been defined and newer cheats are working because of it. Of course, a new update will break these existing cheats, but up until then, we have to put up with these losers.

DMA

What has occured to me, is that one of the most prominent ways of cheating refers to something called DMA or Direct-Memory Access. Many of the cheats also require a 2nd computer, allowing the cheater to run many cheates undetected. In very basic terms, the 2nd computer is cheating, the primary computer on which the game is played has aboslutley no way of detecting that cheating is taking place.

This just makes catching cheaters that much harder and it's these cases where video evidence of cheaters are more valuable. However, it depends on the cheat, because even the Radar cheat can be done with DMA and the player doesn't necessarily have to cheat any other way. It would also be really difficult to say they're cheating just by judging their behaviour in the game.

I for example, am very sharp-eared when it comes to such games. I react to noises, and often avoid them when possible. Someone with a radar could be doing the same thing, so them and I would behave the same way. Neither of our setups are giving up red flags, but the indvidual with the Radar is clearly cheating and they go uncaught.

So sadly, cheating is a game of cat and mouse. They are eventually caught, but new cheaters with new codes keep coming. In the future of gaming, especially those games which include PvP elements, cheasting will be their bane if it isn't already.

Perhaps cloud gaming will be that, which will solve cheating in the near future. Creating servers only accessible if you are cloud gaming and another server for players who are playing the game locally. Nevertheless, as of now, cheaters will not quit. Their purpose of earning themselves bragging rights, griefing, experimenting, will be a neverending drive for them. Why people become this way, that's a fault in thier upbringing, poor experiences in life, lack of attention, insecurities, etc...

When I started multiplayer gaming with Unreal Tournament, Halo 2, Quake, etc.. the entire gaming culture was different. I don't recall cheats ever being a concern. It was 99% lag that was the biggest enemy. Players also treated each other differently. It was a much better time for PvP games. A game like Arc Raiders, would also have been far more enjoyable back then, than it is now. Some of you fellas, will never truly know what that was like, which is a shame, because you'd miss it too!

Anyways, let's hope these cheaters are somehow defeated, surely some anti-cheat companies/coders are also trying to think of ways that can handle this issue without causing performance drops. As that is another challenge anti-cheat has, is its affect on performance. Otherwise there would be solutions.

Good luck in yours games!

i will shed some light on this...

the anticheat in this game is so good that hackers get banned within 24 hours, requiring them to then make a new account and spend another 40 dollars.

thus, its not worth it to them to use it to play the actual game. its only worth it to them to streamsnipe the top streamers of the game.

thats why the average players almost never sees any actual hackers even after hundreds of hours.

what we DO see are a lot of people who hate losing and make hackusations after every loss, and claim that they see hackers in every lobby.

the people hacking to streamsnipe streamers are paying 40 dollars a day to do so, if not more, as streamers now have the ability to report them directly to a support agent.

heres a clip of peanut talking about it

Peanut also said the same cheater has been stalking them for over a month, so your claim that cheaters are banned within 48 hours doesn't add up :D

And anyways, these content creators often say some weird ♥♥♥♥. I have encountered my share of cheaters in this game and this post is not about debating if there are or aren't any cheaters, at this point it is obvious that there are.

The point of this post is to make an example of the kinds of cheats that exist, why it is difficult to crack down on them, why your claim that they are banned within 48 hours doesn't work, and what to look out for when playing against potential cheaters.

Clearly there are many more than what I've listed and quite frankly besides trying to avoid them all together, I don't care for cheats, but I was curious to see what sort of advantages do these players have. I then read into the methods they use to better understand why it's so hard difficult for anti-cheats to catch them.

Why? This post is just being informative. It's not a complaint or anything. I was on the train so I decided to research and post about what I found. O.o

I already explained it. Cheaters are spending $40 every 24 hours to buy new accounts, to then change their name to their previous name, to continue stalking the same streamers.

Peanut admits that this is the result in the clip I posted a link to.

There will always be hacks for literally every game on the market. You can find them on youtube for EVERY game.

Its how their anticheat handles them that matters, and this game's anticheat is objectively very good, thus they must spend $40 a day to cheat in this game.

Be honest here, do you really think that the average video game cheater is going to spend $40 per day, along with hours and hours of their time trying to sync up to a streamers lobby, to get a kill and then get removed again and repeat the process the next day?

No, no they are not. Thats over $1200 per month to do so. Thats only happening to big streamers. The vast majority of players never see any.

there are no flyhacks for this game. thank you for confirming that it didnt happen.

the reality is that some people simply blame "hackers" for every death, and thus they claim to see hackers in every game, while the experienced players rarely see them at all if ever. no worries, its common.

that is factually incorrect, and thats why the hackers have to pay $40 a day to continue cheating, which is why most experienced arc raiders players never see any.

i get it tho. it feels good to be able to claim that all of ones deaths are out of their control, not their fault, someone elses fault... its common, but its simply not reality.
Lowbei, you're impossible to have a discussion with.
  • You'll argue with anyone.
  • You always think you're right.
  • You believe that by saying X and supporting it with "Y content creator says so" somehow validates your opinion.
  • You never have any actual proof, besides telling us that someone else said so
  • This money talk sounds more like a conspiracy theory than facts.

Whereas I wrote this as objectively as possible. DMA cheats are actually a thing and very difficult or impossible for even modern anti-cheat to detect.

The cheats I mentioned are real cheats which exist and are being used.

Once again, what point are you trying to make?

  • There are no cheaters?
  • These sort of cheats don't exist?

Because I don't see how your posts are even relevant to the core of this discussion.

Like I said, this isn't about whether this game has cheaters or not, it's obvious that it does.

This post lists some examples what sort of cheats are being used, how cheaters exploit the anti-cheat and the built in anti-temper and why certain cheats are difficult or even impossible to detect. At no point are we discussing if there are cheaters and how many there could be.

Just some friendly advice though, you DON'T NEED to post in every topic. Like in this case, I just don't get what you're arguing and your posts feel out of place, as if you didn't read anything of the original post, but you were desperate to "mark your territory" regardless.

People are actually delusional! I've got 600h in this game and 2.5k knocked raiders only running pvp with my boys fully geared ven+toro every game. I have come to a conclusion that this game is gonna be death for skilled pvp-ers. We are running EVERY game into aimboters and wh-ers. We have tested it and it does not matter what map you are playing. Cheaters are abusing family share on steam and all the accounts are either brand new or got vac bans with couple of games on them. We are probably gonna quit this game beacause it is actually unplayable. I could go for 1 cheater in 5 games but every game is just to much. Dont waste your time arguing with brainless people especially about DMA and other stuff. I even posted on official Arc Raiders youtube and got no answer. They are making money and they dont give a FFF about us. I can put my life on the line that we are getting cheaters every game. Ive got hundered of screenshots of these accounts. So we are left to either farm in PVE lobbies or play against cheaters in high end lobbies. Now I wish I have never spent 40$ on this scam of a game! Developers showed they werent able to defeat cheaters in their previos game The Finals, game died and has 5-10k average players. The studio is dumb and greedy. I wish them nothing but FAILURE. Dont worry there are more people that struggle with this left without any option.
Everyone should stop arguing with Lowbei and just block him. Trust me, the forums are much more enjoyable without reading his nonsense.
