AutoHotKey?

Hey, I have AutoHotKey scripts I like to keep running on my machine. The Finals didn't like AHK, so I uninstalled The Finals. Does ARC Raiders have the same anti AHK in place?

Yep unfortunately I had to close AHK, I have it loading on startup - I use scripts unrelated to games as well(log volume, force hide taskbar, emulate numpad with number row etc) and while I don't mind closing it when starting the game, I hope they don't just flag my account because I forgot to close it one too many times.

Yes, I received a warning earlier because I had autohotkey on. I've uninstalled the game for now. Rather not risk a flag/ban on my steam account.

So many games have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up keybindings so AutoHotkey is one way to fix it. Developers just ignore people that can't play on "default wsad".

AutoHotKey is used for cheats by a lot of players.

Finals doesn't even let you run nvidia profile inspector. I swear devs these days can't come up with competent anti-cheat so they just outright ban use of anything that "could" be used for cheating. You use AHK? Must be for cheating! You're on Linux? Cheating! VM? Cheats!

Even I can come up with tons of ways to get around these bans, and guess what? So can cheaters who actually WILL go the extra mile to cheat! Case in point, THERE ARE STILL CHEATERS IN THE FINALS! Dunno how people defend this, but ignore what some people here might say, I for one completely understand you uninstalling that game, and this one too once you find out it has the same stupid restrictions.

It’s an uphill battle for devs for sure. There’s so many people working against them just to cheat in a video game. For what? It’s so sad.

My reason? I have a very old (and sexy) Merc Stealth keyboard and I use AHK to rebind exactly two things, Tab to Esc and Caps to Tab, since those keys are placed rather awkwardly on the left-hand "gamer keypad".

Not everyone is a nefarious cheater, some just use peripherals that save their wrists and fingers. Considering you can bind key functions to most mouse buttons these days, I am amused at the uproar.

I guess I should be used to the fact that there's a subset of people that don't realize that not everyone uses default binds, default hardware, default peripherals, and just assume that anyone outside the norm is not to be considered for video games.

I have used AHK for ages and not once for cheating in a multiplayer game. If you assume AHK use in games is only for cheating, that just shows a lack of knowledge and/or imagination.

Maybe Embark will figure out how to detect actual cheating behavior in AHK rather than disallowing the software outright before they get out of beta, but I'm guessing not.

If one is decent at using AHK, one could figure out how to kill any AHK scripts and then load ARC Raiders with a single AHK script. I'd just do that if I could also use my extra mouse buttons without AHK... but I can't without doing a whole lot of annoying reconfiguration I don't think is worth it for a game I am only mildly interested in trying.
