Wow, yeh that's about what I'd expect.
I just have no interest in dealing with cheaters and trying to compete with people that derive their self worth from how skilled they are at a video game.
With PvE you can actually get immersed in the world and the gameplay loop doesn't revolve around the potential frustration of dying.
Ugh, what a shame.
Maybe the devs will reconsider when everyone abandons it for the next big PvP trend. By then it will probably be too late though. Now they're competing with Bungie and whatever their extraction shooter is called. (To be fair, this does look better then that game though.)
Pvp was already added at the closed alpha from 2023. How would you have played a PVE only version of the game ?
I dont think I saw any cheating issue during my time in the tests. I found the game to be very immersive regardless of the presence of pvp. Some missions require you to extract with specific loot but others are completed from just interactong with things or exploring a place, so dying in game doesnt prevent all progress. I hope they do great story telling with this game. I would have enjoyed a coop pve version of this game with cool seasonal storytelling, but its Embark's baby and they believe the game is more fun as a pvpve. We'll see how it goes.
Why don't like PVP games?
Seeing this change away from pve to pvp is immensely disappointing personally.
People want co-op PvE games, which aren't made by teams like this that often anymore.
I enjoy PvP in The Finals but not in a game like this, spending 10 minutes to get dropped by someone looking specifically for a different type of game sucks. The small hits of dopamine those sorts of engagements provide don't do it for me anymore, I'd rather see steady progress than risk wasting time.
