Why Trust A F2P Title?
Obviously I Don't
F2P has always been a gimmick that takes advantage of younger consumers who don't realize they'll end up paying more for a F2P game (and get far less content for it) than they will for a typical 30 / 60 $ game.

So right out of the gate this game leaves some people with a bad taste. Mix that in with a number of threads that praise the dev team without any evidence of what they've done right in the past... and yea, you get my point.

P.S.
Keep all responses and comments to each other respectful and in line with Steams ToS. Otherwise, I will report each and every comments that violates the ToS. It's tiring having threads shut down because of fans who can get away with violating the ToS with impunity.

The good part is that you can be not-a-moron and play it for free until the cash shop is exposed enough for you to judge.
Just because the devs are vets in the industry doesn't mean they are immune to greed lol. It would be nice to have a good F2P game besides Path of Exile (which has been getting worse recently). I'm not falling for hype and will believe it when I see it.

Defiance flopped so hard.....

Certainly had potential, as I played Defiance at launch. Though it kept being reworked until the game was unrecognizable.

Defiance received some hate (and some of it was deserved) but it was a fun game early on. I miss it, tbh.

I was excited about the Defiance show tie ins as I liked the show too.
Oh that is a nostalgia trip.

If they have a system like DRG (Deep Rock Galactic) where you support the game by buying DLC cosmetics then I am more then happy with that.

I bought all but the last DLC for DRG and only because I haven't played it in a while. If this game turns out to be fun I will show the same support for this game if their monetization is with cosmetic DLC's.

As for Defiance, I never watched the show but I did play the game some time after it launched and liked it a lot. I did not like what they did when they appeared to be making a new Defiance (2050) because it turned out to be the same game but crappier.

this will be MTX hell. stay away from it if you have low impulse control as the devs/investers will be pushing microtransactions extremely hard. i dare you fanbois to respond.

The dev team is made up of former DICE members that worked on the Battlefield series when it was still good, so there's that evidence. I'm assuming you missed that part.

I actually heard people consider the downfall of BF series started with 3 and 4.
4 for me is when they made it impossible to collect everything within the time you leave to BF hardline.

because FIREFALL, my ultimate favorite game was free to play and it was mind-blowing good. Also Planetside 2 is free and it is an amazing game. Free games have as much potential as any pay to play game. Isnt fortnite free to play?

The 'free to play' description can be a bit misleading. Some games truly are "free to play", but they're generally lacking on-going support (patches, online servers, official customer support, etc.). You d/l it and that's the end product. They exist but are few and typically lacking many ways.

Any game requiring servers, continuous patches, customer support, etc. is almost always going to require funding (from somewhere) to pay for all those things. Very, very few games are truly "free to play".

I.e. - PlanetSide 2 may be free for some, but it's most certainly being paid for by some players via cosmetics and/or monthly membership....so the game isn't exactly "free"; some are paying for it's existence to continue. And without those players who pay $$'s, the game would grind to a halt entirely. If I'm not mistaken, that's what happened with PlanetSide 1.

Just wanted to put that out there. ;)

you are just being too critical. What happened to planetside 1 was the same thing that happens to every game, it died of old age, like any other paid AAA game. Free to play is the new way to build games and still make money off of them and developers know this. Those that are fortunate enough can buy subscriptions and skins. That keeps the game running and servers healthy for those that are not as fortunate can enjoy the game and keep the game alive. Free to play is the best way to have MMO's or mostly any multiplayer game. Paid games are mostly single player games and it's becoming more and more a thing of the past. Developers don't make enough money this way.
