No deadzone options in a game with "deep control system"? The hell?
The game has no deadzone options and a deadzone of seemingly 0% because my joy is always pulling to the right, and the SLIGHTEST resting of my thumb causes it to go from right to left. No joystick is perfect, and I use around a 2%-5% deadzone and it's totally cool, but there's no option for it.

It's actually unplayable for me. My controller isn't even that bad, but a 0% deadzone is ridiculous. Precision racing cannot be done without precision control options.

I have the same issue.
It would be great to have some sort of joystick deadzone control like Sykes suggested.

I found out that Steam Input allows you to set deadzones and it's solved the issue for me. I still think they should add settings, but Steam has me covered. Highly recommend doing it, it made the game playable for me, been having a lot of fun.

You can create deadzones in steam. I personally played over 1k hours without deadzones and did just fine. I only customized them recently b/c square deadzones apparently let you fully pitch and strafe at the same time without the inputs being cut in half. Yes it would be nice if they were included in game by default, but it's an easy fix through steam.

Yes, since I posted this (2 year old necro, impressive), Steam has added much better deadzone support. The game is basically abandoned at this point so I expect no further updates, but Steam still has the ability to mitigate the issue.

It's not abandoned, last update was just over 2 months ago.

Reason why there were no updates for a long time (at least from memory and what I've seen in other conversations about this topic) is because Saber Interactive, the initial publisher, pulled the dev team to work on other projects. Only recently the devs bought back the publishing rights to the game.

By default mine is set to 'No Deadzone' on both sticks - did you notice an actual difference by enabling them and changing them to 'Square'? What kind of effective input mapping is set when the 'No Deadzone' setting is selected? The video claims it is a circle, but how can we tell for sure? I wonder how it can be tested to verify. Just trial and error?

What controller do you use? I use a PS5 controller.

Curious if changing them to 'Square' from 'None' but still having an effective 0% deadzone set for the stick itself changes anything.

Interesting find and thanks for the tip, I'll play around with this.

Disclaimer: I only enabled square dead zones on the right stick(strafe/pitch), not the left.

Personally yes, it did make a difference. For example, on the track Nuliajuk Reverse: The first jump lands you in a banked left turn. Taking this turn wide at full speed will create a slingshot effect that will throw you out of the turn at very high speed. Before making the deadzone change, I would always scrape the track during the banked turn due to my inputs being cut in half which would slow me down to 1700kmh. After the change, I'm now able to fully pitch up and strafe together which lets me to scream through that turn at 2400kmh with no scraping

My default mapping was circles with zero deadzone, but after changing it to square, I gave myself a deadzone of 5 to help compensate for my stickdrift (my controller is nearing a decade old).

My personal controller is an ol PDP Xbox One wired controller that I picked up from a gamestop back in 2017
