MMBN3: At what point do V3 of bosses start appearing in random encounters?
I already beat Flashman V2 at his set location in ACDC3, and I've been doing random battles in ACDC2 for about an hour trying to get him to spawn but he has yet to. https://megaman.fandom.com/wiki/FlashMan.EXE#Mega_Man_Battle_Network_3_2

What am I missing? Am I not far enough in the story?

Data for other Beta Navis:

Beastman Beta: In Doghouse, ONLY appears with Sneakrun active, 9.68% encounter
Bubbleman Beta: In Beach 1, ONLY appears when Megaman's HP is <=25% of max. 10% encounter normally, 25% with Fish installed. Talk to the Navi in Beach 1 who mentions seeing Bubbleman, then jack out/in
Desertman Beta: In Old TV Comp, 8.33% encounter
Plantman Beta: In Hospital Comp 3, 7.41% encounter normally, 18.18% with Jungle installed
Flamman Beta: In Yoka 1, 6.25% encounter normally, 25% with Oilbody installed
Drillman Beta: In Hades Isle, 11.68% encounter
Darkman Beta: In Undernet 6, ONLY appears with a bugged Navicust. 10% encounter
Yamatoman Beta: In the Yoka Inn armor comp, 8.33% encounter

ghost navi random encounters in are a very low rate, if they were high imagine how frustrating it'd be if you're just in an area trying to backtrack.

Idk, an hour with no encounter? Now imagine the horror of trying to get the V2-V4 chips when it takes more than an hour for it to spawn once.

No, I'm pretty sure I'm just not far enough in the story. I've only just solved the Bubble scenario. After all, they don't want players to encounter such a boss in a random encounter so early in the story. That makes much more sense than your idea.

in bn2 and bn3 v3s start appearing the moment you defeat the hidden v2, there's no story progression necessary once you can access the v2

and again, it's a fact the encounter rates are very low, RNG being RNG means it could take a very long time to find.

Back when I was playing this game on GBA, I remember literally having the V3 show up during a part of the game where you have no access to chips, which IIRC happens before the point in the game you're at.

That said, BN3 specifically sometimes has conditions that must be met in order for V3s to spawn. For instance, BubbleManV3 only shows up if you're low on health because life is suffering.

They will spawn as soon as you beat their V2 versions. Oilbody, Fish and Battery will increase your chances with certain Navis. Add in sneakrun and you'll have a better time.

Wow that's brutal than MMBN 2.

Wow that's needlessly convoluted. I hope it gets better in MMBN4 and beyond.

BN3 tried to spice up how V3s worked but yeah the later games just returned to the old system in BN1 and 2 where the final version is a random encounter in the place you encountered the alpha version.

For what it's worth you're actually given hints about the V3 locations in BN3 and any possible requirements. For some of those navis, not all.

I don't know if it still works this way for mmbn3 but a guide for 2 said that after beating V2 of a Navi you have to jack out then back in to start finding V3. I found this info after attempting to grind for Shadowman V3 in the same session I defeated V2. I was grinding for an hour with no success then when I jacked out and in again I found him every few minutes appearing to confirm it.

That wasn't it. I did finally get him, so I guess it's just my incredibly bad luck (and I only got zenny).
