PC vs console versions
Hi

For those who have played this collection on both PC and consoles (PS4, Xbox etc.) - do the games have the same kind of issues that have been reported here? Or are they somewhat better?

I am interested in picking up Origins Plus, but I'm curious what, if anything, will get fixed and be improved. And if the console versions are better, that might convince me to just get the collection on PS4 considering the 20 page art book comes with it, which is completely omitted (by the looks of it) from the PC version. :-\

Also, as my question wasn't answered in my previous thread, I may as well ask here: do these games have an option to disable the time limit like Mania does?

And finally - does anyone know why Sonic 3D Blast/Flickie's Island has been omitted from this collection? It was part of the Mega Drive series of games after all. o_O

Thanks

It's not part of the mainline 2D Sonic games. It's more of a spinoff, like Sonic Spinball.

Oh. I always figured it was part of the main series, like Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 are...? Although, yeah, it was outsourced to Traveller's Tales...

I can't answer which is better PC or console, although if I were to choose I would get the PC version. When it comes to being able to play on new gen console or new gen hardware (PC), normally PC is more reliable.

Can't play PS3/PSP games on PS5 even classic games.
Can't play Wii U/3DS games on the Switch, even classic games which is the VC Store.

Console digital store can close down, like the Wii U and 3DS which has happened and they are only 1 generations ago. The 3DS was a successful handheld.

EDIT: Also, Sonic Spinball and Mean Bean Machine are spin-offs, but they're being included with Origins Plus.

Well, the Game Gear versions are. One of the bonuses included with Plus is a mini-library of all the Game Gear Sonic games, including spinoffs like the racing and puzzle games.

Oh yeah, it's PC for me all the way. But I'm willing to make an exception if the PC versions are borked. Like with The Last of Us and how much of a mess the PC port is... I'll be sticking to my PS4 versions, I think.

Yeah, and that's weird. Why the Game Gear versions but not the Mega Drive/Genesis...? Very weird. It'd be better if each game had an option to allow you to play either the Master System, Game Gear or Mega Drive version based on your preference.

It's not really weird. They have already included this bundle of Game Gear games in past compilations. And they're not including any emulated Genesis games at all, so it seems the idea was "Let's include the GG games as a bonus" and not "Let's include a bunch of other Sonic games".

Pc version is good from what I've played
So that's not something to worry about

PC = mods

Unless you're buying it on Switch for the portability or you're allergic to Denuvo then choose PC.

The Mega Drive versions of both games are on Steam already.

Same with Sonic 3D Blast/Flickies' Island.

That said, I do wish they let you play the Master System versions of the Game Gear games as well.

Yeah, I have those three for the emulator on Steam. :) Just feel they should be included in Origins. And as for 3D Blast, it should definitely be the Saturn or PC versions included, which have better graphics and music.

Actually, I forgot about the mods for the PC version. Particularly adding the original music back to Sonic 3.
