any tips on getting Brauner

Everything I've read says to kill living paintings with blood astronomia equipped but I've spent like 6 or 7 runs doing this and still don't have the guy. It's especially annoying because they only appear in one specific spot very late in the run so each one takes a long time.

Just unlocked him earlier after an unsuccessfull run where i just used sonic dash. i tried to get all the blood astronomica weapons (sonic dash, garlic, pentagramm etc), evolved them, also had full curse in power ups, skull o'maniac and the new necklace on max to increase enemy spawns. Filled the empty 1-2 slots with some powerful non blood astronomica weapons, also fully evolved, to increase dps. Ran a few rounds around the gallery and unlocked him at the end of that run.

I think you need to kill them with Bood Astronomia specifically.
Which is not easy, since it does ♥♥♥♥ damage.
Try taking a character with weapon chooser (candybox preferable since you can choose Laurel/Clock Lancet, but anything will work as long as you skip the weapon and take Blood Astronomia ASAP), without damaging passives, and only using Clock Lancet and Laurel. And of course no other damaging Arcana.
EDIT: Pentagram should work better actually.

I took Poe, gave him all the items that work with that card except Pentagram, made sure I took duplicator, attractorb, and Beginning. From there it was mostly just stacking curse. My sixth weapon was Grand Cross, because it overlaps with Song of Mana so it's not going to hit anything extra anyway.

The paintings have to die by the red stuff, so absolutely do not take pentagram or it's gonna nuke everything before they touch the red

Pentagram is gonna nuke everything, but only rarely, and its BA attacks are insta-kills so if they count it is much better than anything else.

You don't need instant kills to reasonably kill paintings with BA, but when it does go off it'll severely impact your kill gain. Having garlic, Duplicator, Beginning, Attractorb, and Empty Tome is going to do way more for you than Pentagram, and Clock Lancet is going to keep them locked down anyway.

Song of Mana only hits vertically, so if you stay in the middle of the hourglass shape it won't intersect with where the paintings come in, but will still keep you protected if things get too close. If you take Pentagram, they'll just keep getting obliterated before they can even get near the instant kill circles.

Pick an invicible character. Megalo Menya works the best. Limit weapons to 1.
Start with Blood Astronomia.
Pick Garlic. Banish it on level 2.
Pick Attractorb, Duplicator, Spinach. DON'T pick Candelabra. Focus levels on Attractorb.
Go to the room left of the Doppleganger fight.
Idle there.

I did this and unlocked it even with Hurry mode on. Best to disable Limit Break.

clever strat to ban weapons. I added song of mana and sonic dash, then banned them. But i guess it changed nothing

Circle around the rooms and leaving blood astronomia damaging auras in your wake. The related weapons needs to be ranked up to get bigger sizes.

I combined this with one level of Laurel one level of Song of Mana and Silent Old Sanctuary. It went absolutely berserk, destroying everything extremely quickly, and only with the Blood Astronomia effects.
