Abyss Foscari: how to get to the LEFT?

I'm not talking about the part covered by fog. I've already broken both seals and defeated Je-Ne-Viv. There are arrows showing that there's an Empty Tome and Torrona's Box on the far left, and I can't go there. There's a secret passage apparently? But where should I look? I tried hugging the left walls and couldn't get through.

Also, after beating the boss and re-entering the map as Genevieve, I saw a plate with an hourglass, right at the start (just like the ones that appear in Boss Rash). What's that about?

When you are stuck in front of a wall after folowing the arrows for the two items, move up toward a long linear wall and try to go left, there is a hidden passage.

There's hidden entrance wall somewhere below the Empty Tome. Also, that Torrona's Box room has unlimited amount of Golden Egg bosses so, have fun farming it.

Found it! It's in the corridor leading up to Je-Ne-Viv, a little higher on the map than the eggmen powerups in the middle.

Thanks, I was wondering about this. I don't overly much care for eggs so I won't be going there. That way I can toggle just a handful of eggs sometimes.

Easiest way to get to it is to line yourself up with the Empty Tome icon on the map with your location.

Unless you get Empty Tome earlier and then level it up to the max, making the pickup disappear lol – oops

Not like it matters, once you know the approximate location of the hidden tunnel you can always engage in the tried and true technique of ramming your face into the walls until you phase through 'em.

Yep. I took the advice that it's between Empty Tome and Torrona's Box and remembered more or less where the former was and did basically what you said.

So, after I discovered this area by complete accident yesterday (there was so much on screen that I didn't even know I was going through a wall, and searched all over to see if this was intentional or not. Then a few hours later as I was very drowsy, I was playing in the Library and kinda nodded off for a few seconds while mid-game. When I opened my eyes, my character was in a black void outside the upper wall. Could wander back and forth, and I did find the way back in (secret passage is a little ways between the Mask and the Golden Ring), but there didn't really seem to be a point to it. I didn't find any hidden area aside from just walking around in the void itself. Interestingly enough, despite the fact that monsters routinely walk through walls, they couldn't follow out into the void unless they found that passage.
