Who do you think is the better Gold farm character?

I just decided to "Egg cap" Sammy (Get enough eggs to cap all power-related stats, obvo there's no actual cap) and by god the level scaling with the gold gains is beyond nutters.

Not that it matters at all - You don't need that kind of gold anymore. Thus Trouser's better by default, because you can get him without the DLC that makes gold completely useless.

If you have Sammy, you no longer need gold, so it's a completely moot point.

There is a pause button on the top right of the screen, not able to see it but it is there under the gold. Click around and you will find it. This forces the pause even if you cant escape pause.

Okay, hear me out... How about just don't minmax everything like a madman and then be surprised that a character is "broken"? I went to Bone Zone with my freshly unlocked Sammy, Disco of Gold obviously, so I wouldn't die immediately. It started slow. I also chose to only have one weapon, which might not have been the best choice since I could only get Silent Old Sanctuary at the very end. After I got some gold, I bought 5 eggs. Later managed to get another one from the eggman that I barely managed to kill after picking up a (deluxe? I don't remember tbh) candybox and choosing to fart flowers. And dying once. Bosses were generally very hard to kill, as Vicious Hunger is very random, so finally getting Celestial Dusting and Sarabande of Healing was a lifesaver. Especially the latter. I actually got the highest DPS on Sarabande. And it also meant that I could reliably destroy torches and start getting some real money, health, and damage thanks to Gold Fever. In the end, I raked up something over 200k (not even enough to unlock Je-Ne-Viv!), and didn't survive. Skeletons killed me past 28 or 29 minutes in. There was no point at which my laptop had any particular problems or something out of the ordinary was happening, at I had to keep moving to stay alive. So I'm guessing Sammy is the regular person's Trouser. No need to force feed him eggs, at least not in thousands.

edit: I tried again starting with Sanctuary, two slots (for Garlic) and Limit Break. I can kinda see what people mean with the leveling up getting absolutely crazy. But I still managed to open chests, and just (barely at times, and using up some Tiragisu) survived to the end with Sarabande and Disco. I was covered in skeletons and was constantly losing and regenerating health. I'm guessing it must get really insane in Endless mode.

I think the thing is, some of us who unlocked Sammy early are on max Curse and Charm because we've been at this for a minute(after all, you need to kill more than a few of these fellas). With Vicious Hunger, that means there's good odds of enemies being converted to cash, and thus exp, regardless of their health, which gives you levels, which increases curse through Wicked Season, Skull and Box(and if you aren't running any of those three you're making a very deliberate choice), which increases numbers of dudes, which means VH gets more procs. And this isn't even considering eggs, the sixth way to get more mobs in the spawn area

This is absolutely how Sammy is designed to work, he's only supposed to struggle against enemies that are weak to instagibs, if that. There are six things that specifically feed his positive feedback loop, and to avoid all, or enough that you don't get much benefit, is maxminning, to coin a phrase, which is a bit of a niche. I respect it, but it's not normal and not what most people are going to experience

And honestly I do wonder if the game is about to finish or if the next DLC/free updates aren't going give us a fight or mode that assumes we're egged up to the eyeballs, properly brutal, and Sammy is just a welfare character to let everyone catch up

You get 200m in 45 minutes on Sammy, not sure it's that easy on Trouser.

Yea, you probably need 100-300K eggs for that.

With 185K eggs on Sammy in Il Molise stage results in 200m gold in about 11 minutes. (Edited, my estimate was off a bit, just did a run result with 11:17 time and 200.3m gold at level 17283.)

At 185K eggs average stats are over 10,000 % for Luck, Growth, Greed and with Wicked Season it increases at an extremely fast rate with every two levels. With that Luck Greatest Jubilee is constantly spawning light sources, with ground drops locked to only gold that means Disco of Gold is also instantly triggered and cycles quickly to nearly two million.

Frame rates are very stable at 60+ with average of ~90 for me on my 144hz monitor throughout nearing level 14,000 or so before 10 minutes.

I meant eggs for Trouser, didnt really state myself clearly. I dont know how you get so much fps (i'm also on the new engine) but at 22k eggs i get 1 fps after a few seconds. What are your specs?

Ryzen 7 5800X3D and a 6700 XT

The stability is primarily associated with the stage, as Il Molise its just the plants that don't move and nothing respawns unless you are actively moving around. Gold drops practically all occur from the single weapon build with Greatest Jubilee.

(Edit) Additionally, my frame rate is horrible in practically any other stage with eggs enabled, the massive percentage of Curse is just too much spawning of enemies.

Oh, it makes sense you don't have a lot of lag in Il Molise. Might try getting sammy a few more eggs and trying il Molise; only for fun though.
