These days the 'approved' method of killing the Reaper is using the unlockable upgrades of the Clock Lancet and Laurel.
That's funny. I've never seen Steam block an external link to youtube, of all things.

Anyhow, the game's changed a lot over the year(s?) and there are probably a lot of old guides and videos out there before we got the method mentioned above.

Not just upgraded. You have to evolve them into Infinite Corridor and Crimson Shroud.
There's also the evolved form of Refectio, Sanctuary, from the Ode to Castlevania DLC. Every so often it wipes the screen, and the effect even instakills reapers. With a reliable source of invulnerability - such as Sword Brothers or Laurel at high cooldown reduction, or the Jetstream with a crit build (Khukuri evo from the new free Emerald Diorama DLC) - you can kill an arbitrarily large number of Reapers limited only by your patience.

you need to beat normal game story once first, then you get access to the Crimson shroud and infinite corridor. so just enjoy the game and think about it later :3
