Are you supposed to get to 30 min per map?

I played map 2 (library) and to my surprise, I got to 30 minutes! As soon as I did all of the enemies disappeared, but to my surprise some grim reaper boss popped up and immediately 1 shot me. Is that supposed to happen or should I have been dodging, and is trhe goal of the game to get to 30 min on each map?

There's ways to defeat the red reaper if you play long enough, level up, unlock stuff, learn how to evolve weapons and what combinations work and explore what is possible in the game. :)

Don't rush to spoilers as you'll find a lot yourself without a lot of effort and be satisfied that way!

Thank you for the response! I didn't realize the game was so deep so I am going to try to avoid spoilers now. I just didn;t know when I should move from one map to the next. Thank you again

Notice that when the reaper shows up at 30 minutes and kills you, it still says "stage complete". Being killed by the reaper at 30 minutes is the normal end/completion of a map.

Death is inevitable.

I totally didn't catch that! I was thinking "Dang, I didn't dodge him in time" then went to sleep. Thanks for commenting!

Crimson Shroud + Infinite Corridor
With these two, you can easily defeat The Reaper. It doesn't really matter what other weapons you use. You can also unlock The Reaper as a playable character.

If it helps, try looking at the Unlock menu and look through what you can unlock there, there's a lot of stuff to get.
