Super fun game but the massive wave of skeletons.... WHY?
Having a great time playing this but it seems whenever I am doing well a MASSIVE wave of skeletons come surround me and kill me. No where to run, no way to kill through them...

Is that just the end of the round? I don't get it.

dead wrong. garlic stays useful the entire time thanks to the knockback it adds. evolve the garlic, and it also steals health. especially useful when paired with the bible and/ or magic wand.

are u sure that garlic has knockback? books yeah but garlic?
i had a lot of runs and never did garlic knock something away form me.

I hadn't found garlic yet, first time seeing this last run. Thanks, I will pick it up every time!

Little RN Jesus is needed for that, sucks that sometimes a run just doesn't give you anything good.
When you learn weapon combinations and how to move better you'll look forward to the wave; i can tell from a previous reply you don't like the 'git gud' but for real, you just gotta get good dude. No RN Jesus required to beat the game much less get past 10 minutes, just experience
I understand that I need experience and I'm already figuring stuff out, but unless I get garlic, the skellies trash me every time, there's no way out you just gotta take the hit and start over.

And yea, I'm severely disapointed in a fellow human being who has to rely on exhausted insult/jokes to get their kicks. Git gud died after the first time it was used. Creativity took a massive blow when that crap became the go to.

yes. the garlic description says it makes enemies more susceptible to knockback and freeze.

you mention bible has knockback. compare normal bible knockback to knockback with bible after the enemy has taken a tick of garlic damage. they get knocked back 2-3x as far.

It's actually a huge source of XP, but you do have to prepare for it

You will realize there are only a couple ways to total victory and that certain build choices are just objectively bad.

I tried it with no upgrades, no garlic, no +1 projectile upgrade and no book. You can play it a bit slow and just move in 1 direction even with somewhat weak items, and honestly it was pretty consistent that I got one of those upgrades and my builds got pretty screwed up by avoiding things like +1 for whatever crummy upgrade was remaining.

With the starting character, it didn't go well. I could technically do it, but I would screw up and lose hp (partically cause I'm playing on hyper, regular feels way too slow.) But the damage wasn't forced, it was generally avoidable.

Then I tried the second character because I feel like the extra levels she gains make her runs consistent and I think the wand is really good if you level it all the way. I could pretty consistently get to the level 7 wand, and with level 7 wand alone you can move forward right next to skeletons, kill them with wand, and then move again and stay ahead of the blob behind you that way.

The hard part about the skeletons wasn't the skeletons themselves, its what comes after. If you're avoiding all the items that make your run overpowered and not using the power boosts, it becomes pretty hard to go back for all the experience that drops. In the run I did as the second character, after I killed all the skeletons I took a long time to try to collect all the experience, didn't get any more chests, and ended up stuck on a level 8 wand. Every time I get the upgraded wand, my runs immediately turn into afk runs where I only have to touch it occasionally to avoid a boss (although I get the extra projectiles pretty much every run and that upgrade is broken, so it might be different when I'm going out of my way to avoid that upgrade), so it was technically a failure but was very close to a success.

Now if I don't go out of my way to avoid the best upgrade in the game, I've gotten either +1 projectiles or garlic a vast majority of the runs I've tried in this game, and of course there's power boosts which make you overpowered from the start. If you just take for example the +1 projectiles from the power, you'd have to have incredibly bad luck to not get a build that easily kills the skeletons.

I kind of feel like you just need +1 projectiles (whether its from the power boost or getting the upgrade in match), and then every build works. Except maybe the birds, upgrading birds seems horrible.

that's where you're super wrong. fully upgraded birds are great before you even combine them. upgrade that evolved form, and you've got the best weapon in the game.
