how od i beat stage 3?

no matter which character or items i try to build around i just die at level 20 or so. some characters are so bad at gaining levels too in the begninning so you get easily overwhelmed.

I personally rely a lot on Laurel. The amount of invincibility it gives as you increase duration and lower cool down will usually protect you from everything other than the golems at the last minute. also combos well with Clock Lancet. Usually works with every weapon well that isn't magic wand, garlic or whip.

The 8 min wave on stage 3 is usually the first hard wave for me where I might die. If I can manage that wave I can usually manage to get to 29min. Except when I afk and die to the 20min or 25min boss like a dumb dumb

if you are strugling try to get garlic evolved (garlic 8 + red heart), and/or whip evolved (whip8 + black heart), this items heal a lot, but you will need power too, holy water evolved ( holy water8 + magnet) on late does a lot of damage, runatracer evolved (runatracer8 + armor) too, maybe magic wand evolved (magic wand8 + empty tome) would help yout to knockback enemies but its not powerful

King Bible provides one of the best defensive options that still deals a lot of damage late game. With it + whip or garlic a win should be guaranteed.
Also don't pick up weapons which don't clear enemies near you, at least as the first 4-5 weapons. Picking up the bombardmnet birds there is a death sentence.

Getting past level 20 should never be an issue if you're moving properly. At level 20 Mortaccio is fine. Panda is just slightly worse Mortaccio IMO. The bombs are a bit better early I guess. But later on Bone is much stronger (because the projectile will stick around and hit a million things while bouncing instead of just exploding).

That was my problem when I first started playing, I didn't have very many power ups. As another post here said, farm the library, A LOT. Buy upgrades for things like might, amount, and duration. Also, spend some time unlocking other characters and completing other unlock challenges, the starting characters just aren't that great.

Don't be afraid to refund your power ups, if you decide you need more of a certain power up. You get back all of your gold that you spent AND every time you buy a power up, the cost for all of the others will go up. So, you can refund all of your gold, then buy experience power ups or revives and rerolls first, then buy the 'cheaper' upgrades second.

The first time I finished 30 mins run on this map with an old man with garlic. But it was hard, so I do not recommend neither to take the old man nor garlic here. People above mentioned Mortaccio or panda - great choice indeed. Choose proper skills for better synergy and it will be very easy.

the problem with mortaccio is that it's hard to level him up
