But yes, I think it a needless hoop to jump through. None of the related weapons is that good enough to warrant it. Myself Ive completely megasealed OPGuns.
I like the general vibe of the DLC and like doing runs focusing on only a single DLC. I agree that only a few weapons are actually good and none of them seem as great as the top tiers of the prior DLCs.. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't be allowed to evolve 6 guns in 1 run! It feels like there should have been another gimmick tied to them. Like how a few characters spawn an academy badge for free. The Contra characters should spawn a weapon power up at level 30, 70, 130 and so on. Idk how many the characters should spawn and at what levels but its just smth that'd feel better to play than what we have now. It feels like Ode to Castlevania and the DLCs before OG were better thought out.
Actually you dont need to revive with Bats Bats Bats. You get a bat minion if you do, but as soon Bats Bats Bats picks up a revive, it increments amount too.
Just don't die on your last revive
One of them allow for infinite scale of Growth, allowing for more Lvl ups over course of a run, another spawn extra "boss" monster every couple of minutes, giving you more evolutions and upgrades. There is also arcana that drop random pick ups every time you level up, including occasional gift box (pick a weapon) and arms dilo (pick a passive).
Those arcanas are completelly broken, but are nice addition if you are struggling with your runs.
For run themselves - i banish other DLCs from rotation when doing DLCs. Focusiong on getting all the evolutions in single run is tricky, because you can end up lowering your overall progression and have no damage, so unless you are picking few of the VERY strong weapons, like Space Guy's blaster, Infinite Corridor, Victory Sword, 3 Foscari spells (evolve into 1 slot item) or 2 base game whips, i would suggest to just picking couple of weapons to evolve as your last items and focus on getting best damage build you can get within your personal rules and limitations.
Also picking item pull arcana as your 2nd or 3rd never a bad idea for easy pick ups at later half of the run, just so you don't have to waste time walking in every single place to pick them up wasting gems and farm time.
Also i don't recommend Amount arcana as your first. Early game bonus doesn't help in late game and it's usability is heavily diminished for weapons that don't benifit from amount as much. Best arcanas in early game are one that give you scaling benifit through entire run, like getting more area every level.
Personally, Its not that I'm too interested in playing endless nor do I have trouble winning normal runs, Its just that Its a challenge to evolve all weapons and it feels unsatisfying not to do so. However, today I learned something that was right under my nose the whole time: when playing as Bill Rizer I'm able to banish every passive that I don't need and always have an empty space for the power up.
Bill's primary weapon doesn't require any other passive than the weapon power up so you can have 5/6 slots occupied by the other passives required for evolving the other 5 guns.
Honestly, ever since I started playing the DLCs for this game part of me has wished for there to be a way to unbanish items during a run. It'd be cool to be able to get passives that you've banished via an arma dio and be able to level them up afterwards.
I know that It'd make the game even easier and crazier than it aleady is.. but one can dream.
