Firstly, he was mentioned and playable as early as Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, which as the title clearly indicates - is the 5th game of the series.

The absolute vitriol over Lords of Shadow is both sad and hilarious. Like, if you don’t enjoy those games, fine. But aggressively insisting that they should never have a hand in any CV crossover content is just strange.

She does have the benefit of being the only woman in the franchise to ever carry the surname Belmont.

But whatever the case, either Konami and/or Poncle didn't want him in, or the latter couldn't think of anything interesting to do with him. And I get the impression that this hasn't left an awful lot of people feeling blue.
