I'd say: play the original game until the last minute before the rebate ends, so that you get a good idea at if you'll want to play hundreds of hours to clear all the content AND the DLC.

(This game has SOOOOOOOOOOO much content without even the DLCs that if (for example) you have a 40-50 hours job + 2 kids + a pet, I am certain that it will take you 10 years JUST to clear the vanilla Vampire Survivors lol! If you have a ton of free time and really love the game, you should get the DLCs but they are so cheap, that even if you buy them after the rebate, you'll probably "lose" something around 3-5$; not a huge loss imo!)

Edit: you do unlock a ton of stuff in the original game (weapons/characters/maps), but you won't get the weapons and characters from the DLCs.

the dlc is cool but i would say play the base game to your fill and if your like me you can always grab the dlc later
Since they are on sales, i was thinking of getting the 1st two DLC's but not installing them right away.
one simple moment: if you want to know what the first playthrough of the original game looked like, then first buy only the game itself. And after the original passage, buy a bundle. Just a matter of "style". Maybe in the future it will be easier to divide maps and heroes by DLS in the menu.

You can just get it, if you know that you're playing this game for a long while.

The content for all DLCs can be found in seperate maps, so you can still keep playing the base game content until you feel comfortable advancing to the DLC-content. You can also switch them off in steam, so that it doesn't get added right away.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Only after you unlock the weapons
Typically dlc unlocks go like
> special map
> do a thing on special map to unlock character
> survive as x character to unlock their weapon everywhere.
Thanks you very much everyone !

There are 2 passive items you instantly unlock to be picked with the Arma Dio for whatever reason (not sure from which DLC though, since i'm also just unlocking everything on base game for now. Might also be from doing stuff, but i can't tell from what^^), but the rest is only unlocked by doing stuff on the new maps.
