Crossplatform multiplayer?

If my friend were to get this game on the nintendo switch, would I be able to play online co-op with them? (me on steam, them on switch). If so, would it require the same network(similar to minecraft w/out an account on mobile/switch) or could we play remotely?

Official online co-op hasn't been released yet, dunno if it will have crossplay when it comes out.
