why is Santa's weapon so rubbish?
it targets randomly and attacks the same spot with every shot??
most enemies die in 1 touch so it basically has no point in upgrading its projectiles and the randomness means cooldown doesn't even necessarily help.

Get the counterpart arcana and watch it melt enemies all over. (and it can also take explosive.)

Is it the best weapon in the game? No... But there are a long list of weapons I consider worse.

It's upgrade has consistently been one of my strongest DPS weapons thus far.

It's basically like the Lightning Ring except it fires multiple shots in a fan spread, making it generally better at crowd control by comparison. And the evolved version (Seraphic Cry) is basically a rapid-fire airstrike that also makes Rosaries work 4 times better than normal. Also as an above user said it works with the Gemini arcana to throw two walls at once, and like other Gemini-compatible weapons keeps the counterpart (Levelin'Eh) even when evolved.

Honestly of the weapons we got in the free updates this the only one I actually liked. The others didn't really fit my overall playstyles (though the bat weapon now works with Divine Bloodline so I might check that again), but this one works well enough for me at least. Just be glad it's not the Bracelet; I still feel that's the absolute worst of the "bonus weapons" overall.

Just like Neon Triangle said , Santa Javalin and it's upgrade Seraphic Cry are a lot like Lightning ring , early on not so great but once they are casting quickly they do great.

The weapon description says "Duration Affects amount , can deal critical damage" with about 200 duration and level 8 Santa Javalin your spears fire constantly.

You can also take arcana like Gemini to double the number of attacks, Tragic Princess cuts down the cool down by half making it easier to hit "constant attacks mode" , Twilight requiem adds explosions to increase the AOE or good old "Beginning" for more amount.

The upgrade Seraphic cry also has an extra effect when you pick up a rosary (or get one triggered by Santa's character ability) It seems to make the rosary effect trigger repeatedly while counting down to a big trigger , kind of like Gorgeous Moon/Pentagram.

For me Seraphic Cry did about about 90 million damage on a non egg Imelda for testing, not the strongest weapon but it was able to clear stages just using it by itself (no Silent Old Sanctuary either)

It's the type of weapon that scales well with a stat so if you are using a no egg character with no duration bonus and no arcana to support it , yeah it feels slow and bad , Taking Gemini or Tragic Princess at the start can help a lot, getting Amount , duration , AOE and cooldown is required to make it feel good so by itself it feels bad at the start but later on or with eggs at the start it will be good.

I will put it that way: For new players or middle-game players, it's certainly not great, as it only really becomes good when evolved. But for late game players with arcanas and others weapons able to support it as well as better stats, it is pretty damn good. Of course there are better options, but it's very solid.

Santa Javelin is REALLY powerful. But needs arcana backups and properly chosen passive, then it becomes a monster. Seraphic Cry is consistently among the highest damaging skills.

It's okay when it gets upgraded, but it feels really weak before you have everything in place.
