How do I switch on the map

I got the map for a level but I can't seen to get out of the area for how to make evolved weapons how do you switch to the map when you push ESC?

Youve mixed up something. You are not switching maps mid-run. Heres an explanation to how evolutions work.

Ok but it still doesn't tell me how to get the map working when according to the game I got the map for the Contra level.

Are you talking about the pause menu map? You simply go the Neo Galuga zone. If youve found the map in Neo Galuga, you see it on the pause menu.
Are you seeing it? If not, you might have misunderstood something and still need to find the map relic in Neo Galuga.

Do you have the Milky Way Map relic? If not, you should probably go back to progressing through the base game. Some of those relics will be useful in your quest through the DLC.

You need the basic map that you get in the third level (Milk Plant) of the base game before you can use any of the DLC maps.

Yes, you should be able to pick it up from the Dairy Plant and then it should work!
