Consider this: The attractorb also helps you leveling faster because you suck in more exp orbs more quickly.
I usually dont like crown, but it upgrades the prismatic missile into Luminarie. And Luminaire happens to be the primary weapon of Luminaire Foscari whom gets a REALLY good perk. Everytime Luminaire levels up, she releases a rosary effect to wipe the screen. Making her want to have Crown, Attractorb and as much curse as possible for when you wipe the screen for removing a huge load of enemies. You suck in the orbs, getting close to another levelup. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.
Edit: My best superleveling have put me near level 3000 in 30mins without using eggs.
Edit2: Crown also have use when you need to level up characters to reach the lvl 80 breakpoint for many achievements and unlocks.
As time goes on, especially if you have no issues with handling curse, the boosted enemy spawns from curse and charm can give just as much of a boost.
If you are just after insane levels, a single weapon run with the pentagram has actually given me the most levels if you stick to a stage where the bosses are vulnerable to instant death. You need to use limit break and arcana to do this though. You also need to evolve the pentagram. Blood Astronomia (XXI) allows you to cause damage, and keeping things to a single weapon will allow you to keep levelling up the weapon. This keeps triggering it causing the instant death and vacuum. I have managed to get to over level 13,000 this way.
There are modes in the game which remove the time limit , the few levels spent taking the crown are well worth the return in increased exp , the weapon evolutions that use the crown are also decent.
You lose nothing by taking it in shorter runs (30 minutes or less) and in longer ones you gain many levels , with limit breaking each level becomes a power boost , without limit break it's money , either way is good as long as you know what you are doing.
You aren't forced to take it either , it's not the best option but it's perfectly fine to take it if you are using weapons that upgrade with it or if the items on the map allow you to take it.
The later you are in the game, the less useful magnet gets. I barely use it any more unless it happens to be lying around on the map I'm playing.
