Lifesign Scan's projectile?
Lifesign Scan restores your health periodically. But a number of upgrades state that it get's additional projectile - what's that about? I don't see any projectiles coming off it. And do additional projectiles or projectile speed affect that in any way?

It just means it increases amount, which scales the healing.
