Fullscreen disabled when alt tabbing

Every time I alt tab, the fullscreen goes to windowed mode and the only way to fix it or prevent myself from clicking outside the window is to close and open the game. Any workarounds?

When you click back into the window, press Alt + Enter it should then make the screen small. Press alt + enter again and it will fullscreen it.
