How do I beat the reaper?

I buy the lancelot clock or whatever its called and the onion but he guy still just pops up and one shots me without getting frozen or repelled

You'll need to play more and wait to unlock a very powerful Relic that'll give you four new Passive Items that'll allow either Clock Lancet or Laurel to be Evolved and it's one or the other of those evolutions you'll uae to beat Death... but doing so will open up another Can o'worms though.

Clock Lancet plus the rings (Silver and gold) turns into the Infinite Corridor which freezes enemies and reduces their health by half. The Laurel plus the two Metaglios (the red arrow looking things -> <- upgrades to the Crimson Shroud which reduces all incoming damage to a maximum of 10. Those two combined almost guarantee a victory against the reaper. I haven't tried for those items in a while so I can't recall if you need to max out all of the item's levels in order to get the upgrades or not.

Don't fear the reaper.

Depending on character used and if you have DLC's or not the focus should be lancet evolved, crimson robe evolved, pentagram evolved with Bible evolved and maybe garlic. Arcanas are up to you I use attract to summon all items to you including xp every 2 mins, +1-3 projectile arcanas, and maybe the arcanas that cause damaging areas if you use garlic, santa water ect these items mixed with a strong starter such as sigma or pretty much any dlc character is an easy win, that is if your mid progression. If your in late progression and have the DLC characters unlocked with their weapons it makes it even easier.

I want to point out that you can't evolve the clock lancet without maxing the ring levels too, so if you banish them, no go. Ditto with the Laurel's items.

You can kill death without the clock though, if you do the Laurel upgrade + armor, perhaps with the healing arcana. Then you just tank him til he's dead. It is faster with the clock's evolution (Infinite corridor) though.

Use the erase card/item.
The end of run reaper cant be killed easily and scales off your level.
Best way to kill reapers is by doing Capella Magna.
Kill the first 2 reapers by just kiting. When the water-reaper starts, pick up a holy amulet and it nukes even the reapers.
At the end, keep an eye on your timer and stand near one of the erase items on the south of the map. When it hits 30:00, pickup the erase item and reaper is dead.
You can also use the erase card weapon to do so on this map.

I beat Red Death with Dommario (which was surprising giving his very slow speed, but I played on Hyper Mode) with these things:

> Duplicator level 2 (max)
> Empty Tome level 5 (max) [helpful with Clock Lancet]
> 108 Bocce level 8 (max)
> Tiragisu level 2 (max)
> Spellbinder level 5 (max) [helpful with Clock Lancet]
> King Bible to Unholy Vespers
> Clock Lancet level 7
> Laurel to Crimson Shroud [protection from Red Death's damage]
> Arcana Game Killer [pick it on 21 minutes which helped to improve Laurel quickly]

I was shocked by the result, but as stats showed after defeating Red Death, Arcana "Game Killer" has insane damage - in 7 minutes it did 13,1M.

I was able to get to 36 minutes 46 seconds [yes, it means there were 5 Reapers lmao] before Dommario finally run out of revivals.

Obviously there other ways to beat Reaper, but this was mine. I still can't believe that I did it with one of the slowest character lol
