Thinking to get the dlc

Is it best to get it after you finish overall the main game, or even now it's fine.
That because i know it adds a lot of weapons to the pool etc...

You only get the DLC weapons after you unlock the DLC characters. Just having the DLC won't change anything to the game.

Are the dlc characters unlockable in the normal stages ? What i am asking is mostly if having the dlc weapons detract from the normal experience of the game by adding dlc weapons that not necessarily synergy with other stuff, or if they are always a plus to have from the get go

You unlock the first one, Menya, by opening her coffin you find in Mt. Moonapell which is the DLC Map. Then you can unlock the others on the regular maps like the Inlaid Library by fulfilling certain conditions. Except for one who you unlock by killing 6k of a specific monster spawn on Mt. Moonspell itself.

Thank you for this info, also as someone that played the dlc, do you suggest to start the dlc quest with characters and so on and unlocking them AFTER you do everything in the main game with unlockables and such, or it's fine to unlocking the dlc weapons while you are still unlocking the main game weapons ?

In my case I've already unlocked everything that was to unlock BEFORE the DLC was even a thing, so the DLC was just a natural progression experience for me. So I really can say if you should unlock the DLC content ASAP or leave it until later.
