Steam Remote play together does not work

Hey, I have the following problem: I can invite other people but we only play the same character. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'm playing with a controller, my friend with a keyboard.

Firstly be sure to have 2 controllers connected(yours and the controller of your friend),then in the window of the remote play you should assign your controller to player 1 (drag and drop the icon of your controller in the controller icon 1 and repeat for the controller of your friend in the icon controller 2)
when you done this,and you get in the lobby where you have to choose your character,your friend must press the button start and normally you are ready to go and choose your own character(the player 2 have to wait player 1 choose the character firstly)

All additional players need to be using controllers. Aside from that, see the above post. You'll know it worked if the character select boxes in-game are lit up in color instead of gray.

Unless the host is using controller, then the host can assign keyboard to a different player (I know because my sister is hosting our games and I'm playing using keyboard :D)

Remote play bug : input is temporarily disabled while the host is busy pop ups on the screen of my friend. permanet stays there...how to fix it?

same when I am hosting, so solution is known as it seems
