Switch vs Steam version
I'm thinking of picking this game but but can't decide if I want 4 players on Switch or Steam Link. While Steam Link can be a huge pain for coop play sometimes (lag, controller issues), the PC edition is easily "superior" to console versions. (Plus at the time of writing, VP is on sale, and console ver almost never goes on sale)

However, the Switch version would provide very easy plug and play and have none of those pesky PC problems.

Which version should I get?

Steam. Switch is nearing the end of it's life cycle and Nintendo has a terrible track record for digital game ownership. So sadly you'd end up having to buy it again in a couple years.

Good point, I forgot about that.
If portability is important to you, do know that this game is also available for mobile phones.
switch version is currently on slight sale, but it's only 9 bucks with all the dlc combined so its not a big deal probably. I just 190 outta 190 it tonight finally on switch lol. I been putting alot more time into it now that it's portable. if you got a steamdeck get it on there probably so you have the option of pc too

Depends on what you want. It's a cheap game. You'll be done with the game long before the Switch reaches the end of its lifespan.

Also Nintendo has a terrible track record for digital game ownersship? Pretty sure they don't have that. They have shut down some of their digital marketplaces, but you can still redownload games you bought years after they've closed. Also Switch being near the end of its life is nothing more than baseless rumors. There were Switch Pro rumors even before the system was out. And now that the system's been out for a while they've moved on to Switch 2 rumors instead.

Doesn't change the fact that Nintendo hasn't said anything officially. They released one of their fastest selling games ever this year and there's still a few big games coming. Nintendo isn't going to release many major games in 1 year and then release a new system the next year when they haven't even had time to create games for it and when their old system is still selling like hot cakes. They released a Zelda game that's probably their most expensive-to-develop game ever and they're releasing 2 more Mario games. No, Switch 2 isn't coming next year.

I have it on all three systems ( PC, Switch and Android Phone -- to support the Devs, the game is very reasonably priced, maybe too low ) and personally I think I enjoy the Switch version best. I can pick it up anytime anywhere when the mood strikes me, and the feel of the controller just seems to be best. YMMV

* Also, I'm disappointed with couch-coop for Steam version, so if I play with friends/family it will be when/if they add wifi coop to the Switch version, which seems more likely to me.

I have both and prefer PC. If performance is important to you get the PC version. The switch version starts to slow down around the half way point in a run (handheld, not docked). That's before any curse or arcanas or eggs are added. It may be a bit better docked but not sure how it's going to handle the late game stuff.

I don't see any slowdown on the Switch vs Android or PC.

To make my potential purchase moot, my brother already bought it on Switch.

Thanks for the discussion, nevertheless. I really was just trying to make a decision on what would be best for local play.
