Coop bug about player count

Hi, we tried play coop with remote play today. But there s some serious problem. When i invite 1 friend, we see 3 character bottom down. And when i invite 2 friend, we see 4 character down below. How can we get rid off that extra character? Becuase this way 1 player needs to play with 2 character always. We simply cannot play this game 2 or 3 friend right now. How can we fix it ? And yes we checked our controllers etc and all working fine. We didnt encounter this bug on other games we played before.

I have the same problem , i can no longer play single player as it forces me to play with 2 players. I am playing on deck with controller

Me three (or four). Our problem is almost exactly as you described, though we aren't playing remotely. Rather, we're on a docked Steam Deck with two external controllers plugged in. In searching online, I saw a bunch of references to an option in the menu labeled "Assign Controller to Player 1", which _maybe_ would help? But that option doesn't even exist in the settings menu in our game.

Two of my friends and I run in to this issue constantly. We struggle to fix it but eventually do manage to play with 3 of us. When all 3 of us are connected, Player 1 is assigned the P1 controller while P2 gets both P2 and P3 controller and P3 will get P4 and a secondary "unhooked" controller. This leads to an issue where you have to disable those additional controller by dragging them down to the list of controllers at the bottom of the Remote Play menu... a small barely visible X appears right on the right side of the P4 controller near the bottom list.

Even if you do disable them and have everyone using their appropriate controllers, once you get to the character select screen it will turn all of that back to the way it was. You need to re-do it again on the Character Select screen... or just do it from there from the start.

Either way, once you do it that second time it should work. Same applies if its just two of you and P2 is receiving 2 controller inputs. Disable the third on the character select screen and it should work.

Pain the ass but it's the only way we've found out to fix it.

Same issue, trying to play using HoloISO - whenever I try to play 1 player, it insists a player 2 must exist and the connected controller controls both P1 & P2. Only one controller connected, still happens even with keyboard & mouse disconnected.

This helped me: if you are doing the steam remote play, a screen will show who is player 1, 2, 3, and 4. I was the invited using an Xbox controller and showed i was player 2 and 3. I shut-off my controller showing I was no player, but when I turned it back on it showed me was player 2 only. Hopes this helps.

When i first played I to didn't knew why was controlling 2 characters at the same time, and it was a fun albeit annoying challenge. Something told mento try to shut off then turn on my controller when that screen from steam showed who was player # and well it worked.
