Doesn't work for the 5 items boxes though which is annoying.
It works for them too, you just have to have opened a lot of 'em first BEFORE they can be skippable. It's something like 50~100 Penta (Five Item) Chests.
Although we can modify our controller mappings, but it's impossible on Xbox. We'd better to add a native key support for this feature.
On an XBox controller, or one that uses XInput, you press "B" to skip the animation as well as canceling out of menus.
I mean the Xbox console.

It's out on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Both the Xbox app on Windows and Xbox console and play this game.
BTW, I tried this game on Xbox Series S, it has better performance when there are many monsters on the screen.
