How to get info and stats?

Just started this nice game, and would like to know how I can figure out the stats of the items I have. I can see little tiny icons top left, but hovering over them or clicking them doesnt seem to show anything. Is there a stats panel I am overlooking? Thanks!

Its on the pause screen during gameplay on left side, but that is all AFAIK
